HopeKid explains why Pastor Kanyari remains influential despite criticism
Gospel musician HopeKid has explained why Pastor Victor Kanyari remains influential despite ongoing criticism, saying society often misunderstands how people respond to inclusion and judgment within church spaces.
Speaking during a reflection on faith and society in an interview on Monday, April 20, 2026, HopeKid questioned why some individuals are pushed away from church, arguing that exclusion raises a deeper concern about where such people are expected to go when rejected by faith communities.
He suggested that society has been conditioned to quickly label people based on their past, without considering their personal journey, struggles, or the treatment they receive along the way.
“So why are we chasing people away from church? Where do we expect them to go?” the singer questioned
Public perception
Hope Kid pointed to Pastor Kanyari as an example of a figure who continues to draw attention and maintain influence despite public debate surrounding his ministry.
He explained that Kanyari is often seen as someone who welcomes vulnerable and rejected members of society into the church, giving them roles and responsibilities even when they may still be struggling or imperfect.

According to him, this willingness to accept people others have cast aside is part of why such leaders remain relevant. “When the world is stoning them, he says, bring these ones,” the singer said.
He added that this approach is what leads to questions about Kanyari’s continued influence, noting: “Why is Kanyari being blessed?”
Faith perspective
HopeKid added that human judgment and spiritual interpretation often differ when it comes to church leadership and impact.
He noted that while some individuals may be dismissed publicly, they can still play a role in transforming lives in ways that are not always visible to outsiders.

This, he said, is part of what fuels ongoing discussions around figures like Pastor Kanyari.
The gospel musician maintained that church spaces should remain open to all, including those society may struggle to understand or accept fully.
He stressed that exclusion can push people further away from transformation, while inclusion gives room for change and growth.
