Guardian Angel explains why he cannot be a pastor
Award-winning gospel singer Peter Omwaka, widely known as Guardian Angel, has opened up on why becoming a pastor is not something he can handle at the moment.
Speaking candidly, in a video shared on his official Instagram account on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, Guardian Angel said that being a pastor is not a bad thing, but it requires a lot of patience, which he admits he currently does not have.
“Kukuwa pastor si kitu mbaya lakini siko hapo, sina hiyo patience maybe Mungu atanisaidia baadaye lakini kukuwa pastor ni ngumu,” Guardian Angel said.
He clarified that his strong faith in God should not be confused with a calling to lead a church. According to him, loving God does not automatically mean one must become a pastor.

Building a church
Guardian Angel explained that his involvement with a church project was purely driven by his love for God and his desire to support the community.
“Mimi napenda tu Mungu ni vile nimefanya projects mingi kwa hiyo place, na imagine mimi naunda vitu yangu around hapa na kuna hii kanisa imetoboka na mimi ni mtu wa mungu mimi napenda God nikaona ni poa kukuwa part of kusupport community na waabudu mungu pahali pazuri,” he explained.
He further noted that he is not a member of the church and has no intention of taking over leadership once the construction is complete.
“Mimi si member wa hiyo church, nikimaliza kujenga itakuwa mambo yangu imeisha,” he added
Guardian Angel’s remarks come amid speculation from the public, with some assuming his involvement in church projects meant he was preparing to become a pastor.
The said church
This comes after the singer announced plans of building a church.
Expressing deep gratitude to God for what he described as an extraordinary season of blessings, Guardian Angel shared the announcement on Saturday, October 4, 2025, via his official Instagram account.
He added that he was not seeking financial support from his fans or followers but only their prayers as he begins the project.
In his post, he wrote that God had been exceedingly good to him and that his heart was set on honouring that goodness through the construction of a place of worship.
“I am going to build a church before the end of this year. Mungu amekuwa mwema sana kwangu. Siombi mchango wenu, maombi pekee inatosha.” The post, written partly in Swahili, read.
The Swahili part translates to “God has been very good to me. I am not asking for your contributions, only your prayers.”
