Nairobi County’s Head of Customer Care Department, Geoffrey Mosiria, has hilariously admitted breaking the Guinness World Record after hugging Truphena Muthoni, the new environmentalist in town.

Through his Facebook account on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, Mosiria jokingly claimed he had set his own record moments after embracing the celebrated Gen Z environmental activist, who recently made headlines for hugging a tree continuously for 72 hours.

He went on to humorously ask for recognition, saying the feat was not easy. “I hope watarecognise hii yangu pia jameni, si rahisi,” he added.

Beyond the humour, Mosiria struck a serious and emotional tone as he praised Truphena’s courage, ambition and commitment to environmental conservation.

He revealed plans to support her tree-planting mission by purchasing 72 seedlings in honour of her record-breaking tree-hugging challenge.

As Katibu Mkuu wa Ushirikisho na Huduma kwa Wananchi and a champion of environmental conservation, I will purchase 72 seedlings that I’ll gift her so that she gets to plant them anywhere along the Nairobi River,” Mosiria stated.

He further disclosed that he would add 80 more seedlings to be planted in remembrance of his late father, who died at the age of 80, turning the light-hearted moment into a deeply symbolic environmental and personal tribute.

“I’m really proud of her and will continue supporting her in every way,” he concluded.
