‘Gen Z are not loyal’ – Pastor T Mwangi warns politicians against constant infighting

The Life Church International founder pastor Anthony Kahura Mwangi, popularly known as Pastor T, has issued a stern warning to Kenyan politicians over the rising vulgarity in campaign language.

Speaking during a live interview with a local media station on Wednesday night, March 18, 2026, Mwangi emphasised that younger generations, particularly Gen Z, are paying close attention to every move.

As political fights continue, Mwangi warned that the youth are not automatically on anyone’s side.

“Gen Z are not loyal to a person; they do not have that loyalty without a cause, they stick to ideologies. As these fights continue, be rest assured they are not on anyone’s side,” Mwangi warned.

Mwangi on politicians’ insults

Addressing the current political climate, Mwangi highlighted the delicate position of the presidency, noting that President William Ruto is a smart person. However, he says, he would be blamed whether he keeps quiet or responds to the insults thrown at him by his rivals.

“Our president is a fighter and is a very smart guy,” Pastor T stated.

“This is the problem with the presidency; If he keeps quiet, he will be blamed: ‘Are you not the leader? Why are people insulting you? Why are you not acting?’ When he responds, and he responds in the wrong way again, he will be criticised.”

Mwangi suggested that rather than responding personally to every attack, the president could create a dedicated team to handle communication, reducing the risk of missteps while maintaining authority.

“If I were the president, I would not be the one to answer; I would create a team of people who would respond,” he added.

Gen Z vs politicians’ fights

Additionally, the youthful preacher further stated that as the political class keeps exchanging barbs, the younger generation is turning it into content and observing closely.

“Gen Z are very happy, they are getting memes. For the young people, this is content, and they are saying, ‘kuboeka Kenya ni kujitakia‘,” he noted.

“What they do not know is that the young people are watching, and they are taking notes.”

Mwangi on young politicians

He also expressed concern over the junior politicians due to the ongoing fights and use of vulgar language by the political class.

“Am also afraid of what will happen to the junior politicians because not only has that language missed its cause, but we are also getting to a place of sexualising these things, which is so absurd,” Mwangi pointed out.

In addition, Mwangi emphasised that leaders from all sides carry a responsibility, but the ultimate accountability rests with the president as the father of the nation.

“I believe the leaders from both sides have a responsibility, but the buck lies with the president as the father of the Nation,” Mwangi said.
