Fuel crisis: Kanyari promises Kasarani residents better leadership if elected in 2027

Salvation Healing Ministry founder Pastor Victor Kanyari has appealed to residents of Kasarani to remain calm and embrace peaceful demonstrations amid rising fuel and living costs, while also outlining his political ambitions ahead of the 2027 elections.

In a heartfelt statement shared on Monday, May 18, 2026, while addressing the people of Kasarani and Kenyans at large, Kanyari said he had heard their concerns over the rising cost of petroleum, food, transport, and general living expenses, noting that the burden is deeply felt across households.

He said the economic pressure affecting citizens is real and must be acknowledged, adding that leaders and aspiring leaders have a responsibility to listen to the people’s suffering.

“My people of Kasarani, my fellow Kenyans, I have heard your cry. The cost of petroleum has gone up, and with it, the cost of food, transport, and life itself,” Kanyari wrote.

“I feel that burden as your son and as someone who wants to serve you as your MP in 2027. Your pain is real, and it deserves to be heard.”

However, he urged residents not to resort to violence or destruction during protests, warning that damaging property would only worsen their situation.

He further noted that small business owners, boda boda riders, and market traders are among those most affected and must be protected during any demonstrations.

“We must not destroy what belongs to Him. Burning properties, destroying businesses, and losing lives does not lower the price of fuel. It only leaves us poorer, more wounded, and with fewer places to work and build our future,” he urged.

“The mother selling vegetables in Kasarani market, the boda rider, the small shop owner – they are us. When we burn, we burn our own.”

Kanyari emphasised that peaceful protest is the most effective way for citizens to express their grievances, insisting that the world respects a people who stand firm without destroying their own communities.

“I call on every youth, every elder, every mother and father in Kasarani: *Let us protest, but let us protest peacefully.* Let our voices be louder than stones. Let our demands be clear, lawful, and disciplined. The world respects a people who stand firm without destroying themselves,” Kanyari added.

Additionally, the self-proclaimed prophet added that while he supports accountability and economic relief, he does not support destruction, urging citizens to prioritise peace and order.

“I stand with you in demanding accountability and relief from this high cost of living. I will carry your voice to every table where decisions are made. But I will not stand with destruction. We build Kenya by protecting it,” he stated.

“Stand up. Speak out. But do it with peace, with order, and with God at the center.”
