Rhema Feast: Hundreds light up phone torches as Nigerian preacher Joshua Selman gets hero’s welcome
By Steve Ireri, September 4, 2026Hundreds of worshippers at Uhuru Park lit up their mobile phone torches as Nigerian preacher Joshua Selman received a hero’s welcome during the final day of Rhema Feast, with the sea of lights illuminating the Nairobi venue as thousands gathered for the highly anticipated conclusion of the five-day Christian convention.
The atmosphere at the venue on Friday, September 4, 2026, reached fever pitch as worshippers raised their phones into the air, creating a spectacular display of lights while celebrating the celebrated preacher who has emerged as one of the most anticipated ministers at this year’s gathering.
The dramatic reception came as Selman returned to the Rhema Feast stage for the second consecutive day, having ministered at the convention on Thursday evening, September 3, when his arrival was met with deafening cheers and jubilation.
On Thursday, the highly anticipated preacher made his way to the stage after Apostle Grace Lubega and Dominion City Worldwide founder and Senior Pastor David Ogbueli had ministered, with the crowd erupting the moment he appeared.
Worshippers waved their phones, recorded videos and cheered wildly as Selman walked towards the stage, with confetti filling the air and the excitement underscoring just how eagerly his appearance had been anticipated.
His ministry session on Thursday became one of the evening’s defining moments, with the preacher leading worshippers through prayer and intercession for Africa before delivering a message centred on spiritual growth, purpose and remaining in God’s presence.
Selman returned to the stage on Friday as part of a star-studded lineup for the final day of Rhema Feast, which has drawn thousands of worshippers to Uhuru Park for five days of preaching, worship and prayer.
During his ministry, Selman urged believers to rid themselves of what he described as the “spirit of insignificance”, challenging them to understand that salvation should be followed by transformation and a life that becomes a witness to others.
“We must deliver ourselves from the spirit of insignificance,” Selman said.
He explained that a believer’s value to God is not merely found in being saved, but in undergoing transformation until they become a witness.
“The real value of a person to God is not in being saved but being transformed till he becomes a witness,” he said.
The preacher further told worshippers that becoming an ambassador of God means becoming an advantage to His programme, urging them to recognise that their lives have a role to play in what God is doing.
“When you become an ambassador, you become an advantage to God,” Selman said.
He then led the congregation in a declaration of purpose, asking those gathered to affirm their identity and influence as believers.
“I have a role to play in God’s programme. All here today say I am light, I am salt,” he declared.
Rhema Feast
Rhema Feast 2026 is a five-day Christian gathering being held at Uhuru Park in Nairobi from Monday, August 31, to Friday, September 4, under the theme “Come, Let Us Rebuild”.
The gathering is convened by Ruach Assemblies founder and Senior Pastor Reverend Julian Kyula and traces its roots to 2015, when it was founded under RUACH Assemblies, a ministry of The Purpose Centre Church.
The first day on Monday, August 31, featured Bishop JB Masinde, Lady Bishop Funke Felix-Adejumo, Minister Ntokozo Mbambo and Minister Njoki Munyi.
Day Two on Tuesday, September 1, saw Apostle Isi Igenegba, Lady Bishop Kathy Kiuna, Minister Dr Tumi, Lady Bishop Funke Felix-Adejumo and Apostle Michael Orokpo take the stage.
On Wednesday, September 2, the third day featured Reverend Julian Kyula, Apostle Mignonne Kabera, Apostle Michael Orokpo, Bishop JB Masinde, Apostle Felix Okoh and Apostle Grace Lubega.
Thursday, September 3, saw Selman minister alongside Minister Sinach, Apostle Mignonne Kabera, Reverend Julian Kyula, Pastor Poju Oyemade and Apostle Felix Okoh, with his highly anticipated appearance becoming one of the evening’s major highlights.
The final day on Friday, September 4, has brought together Apostle Grace Lubega, Reverend Julian Kyula, Pastor T Mwangi, Pastor George Macharia, Minister Dunsin Oyekan, Pastor David Ogbueli, Minister Sinach, Pastor Poju Oyemade, Apostle Lee Wambugu and Joshua Selman.
