Eric Omondi seeks help in tracing student after passionate appeal on social media

Kenyan comedian Eric Omondi has asked for help in tracing a student who appealed for assistance after failing to join school.
Omondi requested assistance in tracing the student who identified herself as Michelle Achieng in a statement posted on his official social media platforms on Thursday, January 22, 2026.
He accompanied the statement with a video of Michelle’s passionate appeal after failing to join grade 10 at Ogande Girls High School due to financial challenges.
Michelle’s search for help
In the video, Michelle narrated how she has been unsuccessful in securing support to pursue her dreams and appealed for assistance.
“My name is Michelle Achieng. I come from Homabay, and this is my mother. I am a student who did the grade nine assessment, and I managed to score 55 points out of 72. I was not able to join grade 10 because of a financial crisis. My mother cannot support me to join Ogande Girls,” Michelle said.
She shared her long search for assistance that has so far been unsuccessful, revealing that she had visited local media stations but was directed to Homabay. Due to challenges obtaining money for transport, she did not make it to Homabay, where she had been directed.
“I have also looked for Mr Eric Omondi but in vain. I have done some posts on Facebook. I heard he was helping people, so I was trying to reach him so that he can assist me also.
She appealed to Omondi to come to her aid so that she could go back to school and achieve her dreams.
“I was also appealing to Mr Erick Omondi, through God’s grace, so that he can help me go back to school and achieve my dreams,” the student added.
Michelle’s mother opens up
Michelle’s mother shared her plight, confirming that she is stuck with her daughter at home.
“Mimi ndio mama Michelle. Tafadhali nimeomba, nimekwama na mtoto kwa nyumba (I am Michelle’s mother, and I am stuck with her at home). Michelle’s mum stated.
“Nimeshindwa jinsi ya kumpeleka shuleni. Naomba tu wakenya wenye wanaweza nisaidia tafadhali. Naomba Mr Eric Omondi tafadhali sikia kilio changu (I am appealing to Kenyans who can assist me, including Mr. Eric Omondi, to hear my cry for help),” she added.
The passionate appeal caught the attention of Omondi, who has helped several parents stuck with their children at home this month.
