Brian Kabugi announces fundraiser concert for late mother on June 25
Former Machachari actor Brian Kabugi has announced a special fundraiser concert set for Thursday, June 25, 2026, at The Alchemist in Westlands, Nairobi, aimed at supporting his family during a difficult time.
The event is being held in honour of his late mother, Lucy Njumbi Macharia, as efforts continue to raise funds to help clear her medical bill of Ksh 3.8 million and provide support to the family.
In a statement shared on his official Instagram account on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, he said that the concert will feature live performances and is expected to bring together friends, supporters, and well-wishers for an evening of music and solidarity.
“This Thursday, we’re coming together for a special fundraiser concert in honour of Bugi’s mum, Lucy Njumbi Macharia. Join us for an evening of live performances as we continue raising funds towards clearing her medical bill and supporting the family during this difficult season,” Kabugi wrote.
“The Alchemist, Westlands, Thursday, 25th June at 7:00 PM, Ksh 1,000. Come through, bring a friend or two. For Bugi.”

Financial help
The concert comes a day after Kabugi thanked the public for their generosity, saying they have now raised slightly above Ksh 500,000 towards clearing their mother’s hospital bill.
“Thanks to your generosity, we are now slightly above Ksh 500,000 towards clearing Mum’s hospital bill. Every contribution, prayer, message, and share has reminded us that we are not carrying this burden alone,” he said.
“We still have a long way to go, so if you are able to contribute or share this fundraiser with your community, we would deeply appreciate it.”
Earlier, the actor made a humble appeal to friends, family, fans, and well-wishers to help them settle the bill so they can give his mother a peaceful and dignified send-off.
“As we navigate this loss, we are also faced with the reality of an outstanding hospital bill of Ksh 3.8 million. I am humbly appealing to my community, friends, family, and anyone who is able, to help us clear this amount so that we can give her a peaceful and dignified send-off,” Kabugi said.

Mother’s death
The award-winning actor, in an emotional statement shared on social media on Thursday, June 18, 2026, announced the death of his mother, revealing that she had been battling an illness for some time and that the family did everything possible to help her recover.
“I never thought I would have to write a post like this. With a heavy heart, I share that my mother, my best friend, the woman who held me close and whom I held close, is no longer with us,” Kabugi wrote.
“She had been unwell for some time, and we truly did everything we could. I watched her fight. I watched her push through. But on Monday morning, she chose to rest.”
