Veteran artiste Collo shares journey of overcoming cigarette addiction after salvation

Veteran musician Collo has opened up about his personal transformation, revealing how he walked away from alcohol and cigarette use following a major spiritual shift in his life.

Speaking during an interview on Sunday,May31,2026 the former Kleptomaniax member shared his story reflecting on a period marked by lifestyle excess, inner struggle, and eventual renewal of faith.

Collo admitted that smoking cigarettes was one of his biggest personal battles, describing it as a habit that was difficult to break during his earlier years in the music industry.

“Cigarettes was crazy,” he said, recalling how difficult the addiction was at the time.

He also acknowledged his past relationship with alcohol, noting that it formed part of a lifestyle he now views differently after his spiritual journey.

Looking back, he said he was operating in a space where discipline and direction were still unclear, despite being active in the entertainment scene and enjoying public success.

Turning point

According to the musician, a key turning point came when he experienced a shift in faith that pushed him toward what he describes as “starting afresh.”

“I got a chance to go back and be mentored spiritually and start fresh,” he explained.

He added that the process of renewal involved mentorship and a deeper focus on spiritual grounding, which helped him reassess his habits and lifestyle choices.

Collo said the change was not instant but gradual, shaped by reflection, guidance, and a desire to rebuild his life with purpose.

Breaking old Habits

One of the most difficult steps, he revealed, was quitting cigarettes. He described the habit as persistent and challenging, requiring discipline and intentional change.

“Cigarettes were my biggest struggle,” he admitted.

Alcohol, he added, also became part of the lifestyle he eventually left behind as his priorities shifted.

Collo emphasized that his current identity is rooted in faith, describing his beliefs as a lifestyle rather than a public display.

“My Christianity is a lifestyle. It’s not a show,” he said.

He noted that his transformation was not about fitting into expectations but about personal conviction and inner change.

Today, Collo says he views his past as part of his journey rather than a definition of who he is. His focus, he added, is now on growth, discipline, and living a more intentional life shaped by his faith.
