TikTokers announce return of ‘Kenyans for Kenyans’ initiative that raised millions for Kaluma Boy, Mama Gift

Kenyan TikTokers have unveiled fresh plans to revive the popular philanthropic initiative dubbed Kenyans for Kenyans, which previously saw needy people, including TikTokers Kaluma Boy and Mama Gift, receive millions of shillings after content creators organised fundraisers to support them.

The revival was confirmed by some of the initiative’s former pioneers, TikTokers MC Chris Kirubi, Swings Mauno and Kaluma Boy, on Friday, August 14, 2026.

In a TikTok video, MC Chris and Swings Mauno held the Kenyan flag high inside Chris’s house and sang a patriotic Kenyan song as they revealed that the initiative was now back on its feet.

They held their hands aloft in a show of patriotism as they continued vibing to Eric Wainaina’s hit song Umoja Ni Nguvu.

“Kenyans for Kenyans is back, real and legit,” MC Chris wrote as he posted the video.

First fundraiser

On his part, Kaluma Boy said the revived initiative was being brought back to support Kenyans facing difficult circumstances, with the first fundraiser targeting a young girl named Risper, who is battling stomach cancer.

He explained that the renewed initiative had been prompted by Risper’s situation and his appeal for Kenyans to come together and help her access the support she urgently needs.

“This video is about the Kenyans for Kenyans initiative, which we started way back. And this is regarding the young girl Risper, who has stomach cancer,” Kaluma Boy said.

He said he had noticed a number of comments from Kenyans questioning the logistics of supporting Risper, with some raising concerns about the distance to her home.

“I have seen people commenting after I asked Kenyans to come together and support her, with some saying Risper’s home is far away,” he said.

Kaluma Boy, however, said he had also considered the concerns from his own perspective and believed that Risper’s situation required urgent intervention.

“I have also looked at it from my perspective, and I feel it is urgent,” he said.

He further highlighted Risper’s education, noting that she was expected to sit her Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations soon, making it even more important for her to receive the necessary support.

“She needs to sit her KCSE exams soon,” Kaluma Boy said.

He then announced that a new date had been set for the fundraiser after plans for the earlier appeal were revisited.

“And we have set a new date for her fundraiser to be on July 25, which will be on a Saturday,” he said.

Kaluma Boy, however, stressed that the revived Kenyans for Kenyans initiative should not be viewed as a campaign created solely around Risper’s situation.

He said the fundraiser should also become an opportunity to support other Kenyans going through difficult circumstances.

“That will be okay, and let this day not be about Risper but also about other Kenyans who are in need,” he said.

The TikToker explained that he regularly receives messages from Kenyans seeking different forms of assistance, including people looking for employment opportunities.

“I usually see requests in my DMs, some even asking for jobs,” he said.

He argued that bringing Kenyans together through the initiative could create a platform where people support one another beyond individual fundraising campaigns.

“And when we come together again, we can help each other,” Kaluma Boy said.
