Tanzanian influencer Dotto Magari to test HIV live on Instagram after claims he infected other celebs

Tanzanian influencer and media personality Dotto Magari has announced plans to publicly take an HIV test and broadcast the process live on Instagram in an effort to address rumours about his health and allegations that he has infected other celebrities with the virus.

Speaking to YouTubers on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, Magari, whose real name is Dotto Keto, said he intends to visit a hospital and undergo an HIV test, although he noted that media personalities would not be allowed to accompany him into the facility.

“And I will go to the hospital where I will take an HIV test. But now the problem is media personalities are not allowed there. But I will go alone and I will record live and I will inform all people,” Dotto said.

The influencer explained that his decision to undergo the test publicly was aimed at putting an end to the rumours that have continued to circulate about his health.

“I want to quell those rumours,” he said.

Dotto, however, stressed that he was not being forced to undergo the test, arguing that the issue had already become a subject of public discussion and that he wanted to address it directly.

“And it is not like I am using force, no. This whole issue is already out here in the community. So even if I do not go to test, no one will bother me,” he said.

The announcement comes days after Dotto strongly rejected claims about his health, insisting that he remains healthy despite photographs circulating online that some social media users had used to speculate about his condition.

Dotto has now explained that the photographs being circulated were not recent and should not be used as evidence of his current health.

“Because my health is something you all can see. And those photos that were circulated of me looking sick, those are old photos,” he said.

The media personality also pointed out that people fall ill for various reasons and that being unwell does not automatically indicate a particular medical condition.

“And everyone gets sick and illnesses are of all types. You may go to Dubai and come back with flu and such, and at times you even go to have water or blood added to your body at the hospital, and that does not mean you are sick,” Dotto said.

Dotto said he would have preferred to have members of the media accompany him to the hospital as he took the test but acknowledged that this would not be permitted.

“I would have wanted all media people to join the hospital while taking that test, but it will not be allowed,” he said.

He instead promised to document the process himself and share it with his followers through a live broadcast.

“I will go live on Instagram, though,” Dotto said.

HIV medication

The announcement represents a significant escalation in Dotto’s efforts to address the claims, following his earlier decision to publicly challenge the allegations and deny reports that he takes medication for HIV.

During his earlier conversation with the YouTuber, Dotto also challenged people to search his car for the tablets he was allegedly taking, insisting that no such medication would be found.

“Let me ask you, you who are interviewing me, let people come and check my car and yours to see whether there are hidden tablets. For you, you may even have normal tablets like chloroquine, but mine has no tablets,” he said.

The YouTuber later joked about the claims by informing Dotto that someone had allegedly given him Tsh20,000 to help him purchase his medication.

“And someone has just given me this money to help you buy your medication,” the YouTuber said.

Playing along with the joke, Dotto responded that the amount would not be enough for the medication, leaving the interviewer amused.

“Why did he leave? You should not have let him leave because this money will not be enough for those medications,” Dotto joked.
