Stevo Simple boy reveals why he didn’t do collabo with Rayvanny

Kenyan rapper Stevo Simple Boy has opened up about two opportunities he believes slipped away during his career journey, including a planned collaboration with Tanzanian singer Rayvanny and a potential ambassadorial role with NACADA.

Speaking during a podcast on Sunday, June 21, 2026, the rapper reflected on challenges he faced while working with people around him, claiming misunderstandings and poor management decisions affected important deals at the height of his success.

According to Stevo, the issues began during a period when his hit song Mihadarati was enjoying widespread popularity across the country.

Stevo speaks on fallout involving Chipukizi

He revealed that there was a disagreement involving his then-manager and Chipukizi, a situation he says eventually affected several opportunities that had come his way. Stevo explained that his manager had raised concerns about how some of his affairs were being handled, leading to tension between the two sides.

“There was some beef between my manager in Kibera and Chipukizi. They did not understand each other. My manager told me Chipukizi was taking advantage of me and using me,” Stevo said.

He added that not everyone who approaches a successful artiste has genuine intentions, saying some individuals may appear helpful but fail to deliver meaningful support. “When someone becomes successful, there are those who come with good intentions. But when you dig deeper, you realise there is nothing they are actually doing,” he said.

How the Rayvanny collaboration failed

Stevo further claimed that at the peak of Mihadarati’s Rayvanny had expressed interest in recording a remix of the song. However, he believes the project never materialised because the people involved failed to communicate and handle the matter properly.

“Even when my song Mihadarati was a hit, Rayvanny wanted us to do a remix. But Chipukizi made me lose my collaboration with Rayvanny. He did not want to put things straight forward, so he blocked my collaboration with him,” he said.

The singer described the outcome as disappointing, noting that he had looked forward to working with the Tanzanian star. “It was an embarrassing moment for me,” he added.

NACADA ambassadorial opportunity also slipped away

Besides the failed music collaboration, Stevo said he also missed out on an opportunity to become a brand ambassador for NACADA. Although he did not go into detail about how the deal was structured, he suggested that the same challenges surrounding management and communication contributed to its collapse.

“So even my deal with NACADA just ended like that. But someday God will bring blessings, and I will be an ambassador,” he said.

Choosing hope despite setbacks

Despite the missed opportunities, Stevo said he refused to allow the disappointments to define his career. The rapper explained that he remained focused on making music and continuing to build his brand after the setbacks.

“After that time, I did not lose hope. I started releasing hit after hit,” he said.

His remarks offer a glimpse into some of the challenges he faced behind the scenes, while highlighting the determination that has kept him active in the music industry despite missed opportunities along the way.
