Stevo Simple Boy shares how he missed a collabo with Harmonize

Kenyan rapper Stevo Simple Boy has opened up about a missed opportunity to work with Tanzanian star Harmonize, claiming management disagreements prevented what could have been a major East African collaboration.

Speaking during a podcast on Sunday, June 21, 2026, the rapper reflected on events that unfolded around the release of his hit song Inauma, saying Harmonize had expressed interest in recording a remix of the track.

According to Stevo, discussions began when the Tanzanian musician reached out through his management team, but the talks failed before the project could move forward.

Inauma remix

While looking back at the period when Inauma was gaining popularity, Stevo said Harmonize showed interest in joining the song through a remix.

The singer explained that the Tanzanian star approached his former manager, but communication challenges between the parties prevented them from reaching an agreement.

“The song Inauma had some problems. At the time, I was releasing InaumaHarmonize wanted to do a remix with me. He approached William at that time. He then had to approach my management, but they did not understand each other,” Stevo said.

According to the musician, the failed discussions ultimately brought the proposed collaboration to an end.

Blames management

Stevo maintained that he personally had no problem working with Harmonize and was willing to proceed with the project. He claimed that disagreements among those handling the negotiations were responsible for the missed opportunity.

“The people who made the collaboration impossible were the management teams. I did not refuse to do a collaboration with Harmonize; it was my management that refused. So the collaboration just ended like that,” he said.

His remarks offer a fresh perspective on a collaboration that fans never got to see despite the popularity of both artists across the region.

Claims parts of his style were copied

Beyond the failed collaboration, Stevo also said that Harmonize later stole some elements from both his music and stage style. The singer pointed to a phrase from Inauma, saying he noticed similarities in one of Harmonize’s songs.

“After that, things went bad, and Harmonize stole a small part of the Inauma song. I usually sing, ‘Inauma lakini itabidi uzoee,’ but Harmonize changed it to, ‘Inauma hela itabidi uzoee,” he said.

Stevo further claimed that Harmonize adopted a dance move he had become known for during performances. “He also copied my dance style where I used to touch my head and fold my hands,” he added.

Although the collaboration never materialised, Stevo’s latest revelation has revived conversations among fans about what could have been one of the region’s most talked-about musical partnerships.
