Singer Kendi Kiremi clarifies split with Timmy Tdat, defends his role as a father

Kenyan singer Kendi Kiremi has clarified that her decision to end her relationship with rapper Timmy Tdat has nothing to do with their son, defending him against claims that he has avoided his responsibilities as a father.
In a statement shared on her Instagram page on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, Kiremi said Tdat remains actively involved in their son’s life and continues to provide for him.
She said the rapper takes care of the child’s needs, including medical bills and daily expenses, and has access to his son whenever he wants.
“To make things clear, my parting ways with Timmy Tdat has nothing to do with our son. He is a very present dad and a very good one. His son does not lack anything,” Kiremi said.
The singer also dismissed speculation that she was using their child against Tdat or that he was avoiding his responsibilities. She further assured the public that she has no doubt about the child’s paternity and has no intention of stopping the rapper from seeing his son.
Kendi Kiremi confirms relationship ended
Kiremi’s clarification comes days after she announced that she and Tdat had ended their relationship. In a statement shared on Friday, August 28, 2026, the singer explained that she usually keeps matters concerning her private life away from the public.
However, she said their relationship had become increasingly public, especially during her pregnancy and after the birth of their son.
Kiremi said the attention surrounding their relationship made her feel it was necessary to address the separation publicly.
“After much consideration, I’ve chosen to part ways with Timmy Tdat,” she said.
She made it clear that the decision affected more than their romantic relationship, saying she was no longer Tdat’s wife, girlfriend or business partner.
Couple welcomed son in July
The separation comes about a month after Kiremi and Tdat welcomed their son in July 2026. The two had publicly announced their pregnancy in June through a maternity photoshoot. In the photos, Kiremi wore a red ‘Mother to Be’ gown while Tdat kissed her baby bump.
Their relationship had attracted public attention during the pregnancy and following the arrival of their child. Despite ending their relationship, Kiremi said their son remains a connection between them and that their differences should not be linked to their responsibilities as parents.
She also defended Tdat’s role as a father to their adopted daughter, describing him as a good father to both children.
Kiremi asks fans to stop speculation
The singer urged members of the public to avoid making assumptions about the reasons behind their separation.
She said the timing of the announcement may have led to questions, but maintained that the decision was based on differences between the two adults and not their children.
