Sakaja shares a glimpse of leading deep prayer session before key meeting

Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja opened a meeting with Grogon mechanics and Jua Kali leaders with an intense prayer before discussions on development and business issues affecting the sector.
The governor shared a video showing the prayerful moment before the meeting got underway on a post on Instagram on Monday, July 28, 2026.
He said the meeting focused on matters affecting mechanics and other players in the Jua Kali sector. According to Sakaja, the discussions were aimed at finding solutions to issues that affect their businesses and daily work.
“Met earlier with the leadership of Grogon mechanics and the Jua Kali sector to address pertinent development and business issues affecting them,” Sakaja said.
The governor’s video showed him appearing deeply engaged in prayer before the meeting began. The moment stood out as he gathered with the leaders before moving into the day’s discussions.
Focus on development issues
The meeting came at a time when the Jua Kali sector continues to receive attention from leaders over ways to improve business conditions. Sakaja indicated that the discussions were centred on issues affecting the sector and possible development opportunities.
Although he did not share further details about the outcome of the meeting, he made it clear that the session was meant to address concerns raised by the leadership of Grogon mechanics and the wider Jua Kali sector.
The meeting also came shortly after President William Ruto hosted more than 5,000 Nairobi artisans at State House on Thursday, July 23, 2026. The gathering brought together carpenters, welders, mechanics, electricians, tailors, beauty professionals and other Jua Kali workers to discuss support for small businesses.
During that meeting, the president said artisans play an important role in the country’s economy. He also said the government would continue working with stakeholders to improve access to credit, better working spaces, markets, skills development and the tools needed by small enterprises.
Sakaja’s latest meeting with Grogon mechanics and Jua Kali leaders followed that renewed focus on the sector. His opening prayer before the discussions also gave a glimpse of the prayerful side he chose to display before engaging with the group.
