Ruiru Vampire: Swings Mauno urges locals to clarify whether man biting people has been arrested

TikToker Swings Mauno has urged residents of Ruiru to clarify whether a man accused of biting people in the area has been arrested, following fresh reports of another person being attacked.

Swings’ remarks come after a concerning video of a woman with a bleeding and visibly injured lip circulated widely on social media, with the woman explaining how she was tricked before the man dubbed the “Ruiru vampire” attacked her and bit off part of her lip.

Speaking in a TikTok video on Sunday, July 26, 2026, Swings said Kenyans were receiving conflicting information about the attacker, with some reports claiming that he had already been arrested while other accounts suggested that fresh biting incidents were still being reported.

“And you Ruiru people, please be straightforward because at one time we were getting reports that the vampire man had been arrested. But at the same time, we are getting reports that another local has been bitten. Now we are confused,” he said.

Swings admitted that while some of the discussions surrounding the bizarre incidents had been treated with humour online, he did not consider the matter funny because of the seriousness of the attacks.

“It is laughable, but I do not want to laugh because it is serious. It is a bad thing,” he said.

The TikToker questioned why residents were reporting the attacker as having been arrested while new accounts of people being bitten continued to emerge.

“But you people are confusing us after saying the vampire has been arrested, but we are left worried when fresh reports of someone being bitten emerge. Now what will happen there?” he asked.

Swings went on to suggest that residents should consider taking drastic measures if the situation could not be brought under control while calling on locals to provide a clear account of what was happening.

“Or you guys all vacate and we cleanse that place,” he said.

He then directly challenged Ruiru residents to establish whether the man had actually been arrested, saying the uncertainty was making some people afraid of visiting the area.

“You have to decide now and make it clear whether he has been arrested or not yet because some of us are afraid to come there,” Swings said.

The TikToker also said the situation had become more concerning because of videos circulating online showing the injuries suffered by some of the victims.

“And it is shocking that that person is biting people for real because we have seen videos of a woman with a missing lip,” he said.

The latest reaction follows Swings’ earlier comments on the bizarre reports, when he urged residents to identify the person being accused of attacking pedestrians so that people could remain cautious.

“Ruiru people, I have heard reports of people being bitten by a fellow human being. Tell us who it is so we can be alert when we visit,” he said in a video shared on Saturday, July 18, 2026.

At the time, Swings joked about the possibility of residents having to take unusual precautions while moving around the area, saying he had heard that the attacker targeted people’s faces.

“Now you guys will be travelling wearing helmets like boda boda riders because I hear the person who is biting people is targeting the cheeks and parts of the face,” he said.

He also questioned why residents had not united to address the situation, suggesting that the matter should not have been allowed to escalate.

“Why cannot you guys unite and corner that person? You need to look for that person and maybe give him a dose of his own medicine. I wonder how you let it become such a big issue after it started small,” he said.

Swings eventually joked that he might stop visiting Ruiru until the situation was resolved.

“I may ban myself from going to Ruiru till the issue is settled,” he added.
