Rose Muhando reveals why she will never collaborate with secular artistes after Diamond-Lwaga hit

Tanzanian gospel singer Rose Muhando has opened up about her decision to never collaborate with secular artistes as she shared her views on fellow gospel singer Joel Lwaga’s collaboration with Bongo Flava star Diamond Platnumz.

Lwaga and Diamond released their prayer-themed song ‘Nikumbuke’ on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, bringing together the gospel singer and the Bongo Flava star in a collaboration that has since sparked debate among gospel artistes and their fans.

Speaking to YouTubers on Sunday, September 27, 2026, the ‘Nibebe’ hitmaker explained that she had chosen to maintain her own boundaries when it came to working with secular artistes, saying she would only do so if she believed the instruction came from God.

Muhando said she was aware that other gospel artistes had their own spiritual advisers and teachings, making it difficult for her to question the decisions they make regarding collaborations.

“I do not know what they have been taught because some of the others you hear collaborating with secular artistes have their spiritual fathers. So, if that is what their spiritual fathers have taught them, who am I?” Muhando said.

She, however, made it clear that her own position remained different, saying she had personally decided not to collaborate with secular musicians until she received what she considers a divine instruction to do so.

“But for me, I said I will still not collaborate with secular artistes until God tells me to do it. If God tells me to do it, then I will,” she said.

Muhando went on to explain that her decision was rooted in her understanding of obedience to God, rather than a desire to distance herself from other artistes or dictate how they should conduct their careers.

She drew an example from the Bible, recalling a situation in which God instructed one of His servants, a prophet, to undertake an unusual act that might have appeared strange to people at the time.

“You know, one day God told a servant of God, a prophet, ‘Walk around the city,’ and at that time he walked,” she said.

Muhando used the example to illustrate why she believes an action that may appear unusual to other people can still be undertaken when someone believes they have received a direct instruction from God.

“And if something like that happened today, people would probably think that person was crazy,” she said.

The veteran gospel singer maintained that she would similarly follow her convictions if she ever felt God had instructed her to work with a secular artiste.

“So, there comes a time when God says, ‘Do it,’ and then it happens. But it is not because I want to gain more viewers or become famous. No, not at all,” Muhando said.

Muhando further stressed that she intended to remain firm in her position until she received a different spiritual direction.

“I will remain like Rose until the day God says it. And if He says I should not do it, I will not,” she said.
