Ofweneke apologises to Stevo Simple Boy, vows to remove Andrew Kibe’s controversial remarks

Media personality and comedian Dr Ofweneke has apologised to musician Stevo Simple Boy after controversial remarks made by Andrew Kibe during an episode of the Lessons at 30 podcast, where he said people like Stevo Simple Boy should not be allowed to have children, sparked widespread criticism online.

In a video statement shared on Saturday, June 27, 2026, the media personality accepted full responsibility for what aired on his platform, saying he should have stepped in and defended Stevo during the conversation instead of allowing the remarks to go unchallenged.

Addressing the controversy, Dr Ofweneke said he would not shift blame to either his guest or the production team, insisting that the responsibility rested solely with him as the show’s host.

“I’m not going to divert the attention and look for somebody to blame, either my guest or my production team. I’m actually going to take the blame myself as Dr Ofweneke and as the host,” he said.

He admitted that he was expected to uphold certain standards as a public figure and acknowledged that he failed to protect Stevo Simple Boy both as a fellow entertainer and as someone he considers a younger brother.

“I should have reacted in a much better way as a big brother in terms of protecting Stevo Simple Boy as a brand. I should protect him even from a man to a man,” he added.

Direct apology issued

Dr Ofweneke went on to apologise directly to Stevo Simple Boy, describing him as someone he has supported and admired for years.

“Small bro, you know how much I celebrate you, you know how much I have been a big fan of yours. Today I take this from a man to a man. I want to apologise to you,” he said.

He acknowledged that the statements made during the interview were insensitive and may have made the musician feel “less of a human.”

To address the matter, Dr Ofweneke revealed that his editing team had already begun removing the controversial section from the podcast to prevent it from causing further harm.

“As we speak, my editing team is actually reviewing the episode and editing out that specific part so that it can no longer continue causing any harm,” he said.
