Blogger Njambi Fever has urged women to avoid depending on other people for their basic needs, saying financial dependence can give another person too much control over their lives.

She advised women, both young and old, to work towards being able to provide for themselves.

Njambi said it may be understandable for someone to receive support for a short period while getting back on their feet. However, she encouraged women to eventually start taking care of their own needs instead of relying on a partner or another person to provide for them.

“The only thing I’ll always say to a woman, young or old. Never give anyone the power to feed you forever,” Njambi Fever said on Saturday, August 15, 2026.

She explained that depending on someone for food and other basic needs can leave a person vulnerable to that individual’s decisions and moods. Njambi said women should avoid giving another person control over such an important part of their lives.

“For a few years as you get on your feet maybe, then start feeding yourself,” Njambi Fever said.

Njambi said being supported by someone can become a problem when the person providing the support gains the ability to decide whether the other person gets what they need. She warned that this can make a person’s next meal depend on the mood of the person supporting them.

“Someone who feeds you can starve you. Your next meal depends on their next mood,” Njambi Fever said.

Her advice comes after she recently spoke about how women should respond when men become silent in relationships. On Friday, July 31, 2026, Njambi said women should stop treating men like children and focus on their own lives instead of constantly looking for answers when a man stops communicating.

“Lakini wamama mbona mna treat wanaume kama watoto wenu?” Njambi Fever said.

She explained that women should not feel pressured to keep following up whenever a man becomes quiet. Njambi said people in relationships should also maintain their own lives instead of making one person the centre of everything they do.

“Akinyamaza so what? Si unyamaze pia na ujipee shuguli,” Njambi Fever said.

“Stop giving people this much power over your lives. Husband or wife or lover or whatever,” Njambi Fever said.
