Nara Smith shares how her daughter was diagnosed with cancer
Content creator and influencer Nara Smith has revealed that her two-year-old daughter, Whimsy, was diagnosed with cancer late last year.
In an emotional video shared on her Instagram page on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, the mother of four said the diagnosis has made the past months difficult for her family.
Nara said she decided to speak about the experience in the hope that it could encourage other parents to seek medical help when they notice something unusual with their children.
The moment doctors raised concern
The content creator explained that she and her husband first noticed something suspicious in their daughter and took her to the emergency room. However, doctors at the hospital were unable to immediately determine what the problem was, leading the couple to seek further help from their paediatrician.

Nara recalled the moment the doctor became quiet after examining Whimsy, saying she immediately feared the worst.“There is no easy way to say this or to talk about any of this, but late last year our daughter Whimsy got diagnosed with cancer,” she said.
“When we saw something suspicious on her, my husband and I took her to the ER and they didn’t quite know what to make of it. So we took her to our pediatrician. I just remember him going really quiet and calm, and my heart dropped in that moment,”she added
Tests confirmed cancer diagnosis
Nara said Whimsy underwent several medical tests, including X-rays, ultrasounds and a biopsy, before doctors confirmed the cancer diagnosis. She said the family was told that the cancer had spread and that Whimsy needed to begin chemotherapy treatment immediately.
“After a lot of X-rays, ultrasounds and finally a biopsy, they immediately called us and said she had cancer. They told us it had spread and that she needs to come and start chemo treatments immediately,” she stated.

The influencer said she has spent time speaking to other parents and families at the hospital as she tries to understand and manage the situation.
Balancing family life and treatment
Nara said the diagnosis came shortly after she welcomed her youngest child, making the period even more demanding for the family.
She explained that caring for Whimsy during treatment, looking after her other children, managing work and adjusting to life after childbirth has been challenging. “Processing this and navigating all of this as a family has been really hard,” she said.
She added that some followers may have noticed that she has been posting less online because her focus has shifted to her family.
“Having found all of this out and navigating this while postpartum, also loving and caring for our other kids at home, also being in the hospital with Whimsy a lot and balancing work on top of that has been really challenging,” she stated.
Offering comfort to other parents
Nara said every day brings different challenges, but she is trying to support her family in the best way she can. “Some days are a little easier, some days are really hard and all I can do is try my best and show up in all those areas in the best way I can,” Nara said.
She concluded by saying she hopes sharing Whimsy’s journey will offer comfort to parents going through similar situations.
“We wanted to share this to hopefully bring someone else that comfort, or even hopefully motivate you to go check something out that you’ve been avoiding.I hope that by sharing this I can bring someone a little bit of comfort and make you feel a little less alone on your journey,” she concluded.
