Mkamburi Chigogo says she will expose husband if she pays her own dowry

Radio host Mkamburi Chigogo has said she will publicly reveal that she paid her own dowry if she ends up paying it herself.
She said she would announce the family meeting in the presence of her uncles and other relatives. Mkamburi also said she expects the man marrying her to make an effort during the dowry process.
“Mimi nikijilipia mahari, kwenye kikao nitatangaza!” Mkamburi Chigogo said on Tuesday, September 1, 2026.
She explained that if she ever paid her own dowry, she would not keep the matter private during the meeting. She said she would stand up and make it clear that she was the one who had paid the money. Mkamburi said she wanted her family to know exactly where the money had come from.
“Let me assure you, mimi nikawai lipa mahari, wallahi katika kile kikao, uncles zangu, kina nani wako hapo, nitasimama, nitasema tu ..nataka tu nitangaze na niweke wazi kwamba mna deni langu,” Mkamburi Chigogo said.
Mkamburi expects the man to step up
She explained that she would be willing to give the money, but wanted it to be known that she was the person who had provided it. She also said she could ask her father to pass the message to the family.
“Kwenye hii familia wanaume, mimi ndio nimejilipia mahari and I expect this man here that is marrying me, kuchangamka,” Mkamburi Chigogo said.
She then gave an example of how she would address the matter during the family meeting. Mkamburi said she could hand over money while making it clear that the money had come from her.
“So I give unto thee, this 100k, but just know, it is not your son that has paid, or rather it is me,” Mkamburi Chigogo said.
Mkamburi also said she could involve her father in making sure the message reached the family. She explained that her father could tell the people present that the money had been provided by his daughter. She added that she believed fathers would not stay quiet about such a situation.
“Or I will tell my father to pass the message…wababa hawana chills,” Mkamburi Chigogo said.
She further described the situation as desperate if a woman has to pay her own dowry. Mkamburi said the matter should be made clear during the meeting, including who had provided the money.
