‘Lord give her a husband’ – Benny Hinn’s prayer for Charlene Ruto answered after 2-year wait

Charlene Ruto’s engagement to Tanzanian tech entrepreneur Isaya Yunge has brought back memories of a prayer made for Kenya’s First Daughter two years ago by American televangelist Benny Hinn.
Charlene and Yunge held their traditional Kalenjin Koito ak Chaik ceremony on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at the Ruto family’s Intonna Heritage Farm in Kilgoris, Narok County.
The ceremony brought together family, friends and senior political figures, with President William Ruto and First Lady Rachel Ruto formally welcoming Yunge into the family.
The engagement has since prompted Kenyans online to revisit Hinn’s prayer, with some describing the development as an “answered prayer”.
Hinn’s prayer
On February 25, 2024, Charlene attended Hinn’s crusade at Nairobi’s Nyayo Stadium, where she spoke about her passion for empowering young people across Kenya and Africa.
She then made a personal prayer request, prompting Hinn to pray that she would find a husband who would support her mission.
“Give her a husband that will fulfil that call with her… Lord, send that young man her way soon. Let him be exactly what she wants,” Hinn prayed.
“That will be a strength to her, a great support to her. She cannot do this alone,” he added.
Hinn also prayed for Charlene to find a partner who would be “exactly what she wants”.
Her parents, President Ruto and Rachel Ruto, were present as the prayer was made before the congregation.
The moment quickly went viral, with Kenyans sharing the clip and making light-hearted marriage proposals to Charlene on social media.
Meet Isaya Yunge
Yunge, born on March 23, 1990, in Mwanza, Tanzania, is a technology entrepreneur and social innovator.
He co-founded SomaApp, a scholarship-matching platform that connects young Africans with education opportunities.
His work earned him the Queen’s Young Leader Award in 2018 from the late Queen Elizabeth II. He was also named among Forbes Africa’s 30 Under 30.
At the age of 17, Yunge served as a UNICEF Africa Youth Ambassador and spoke at the G8 Summit in Berlin.
Charlene and Yunge had kept their relationship largely private before the engagement ceremony.
