King Kaka reveals why his kids must pay half for what they want

Rapper King Kaka has opened up about his unconventional parenting style, revealing how he teaches his children financial responsibility, accountability and creativity from a young age.
Speaking during an interview on Sunday, July 12, 2026, the musician explained that his children are actively involved in family planning, household responsibilities and even some of his creative projects.
King Kaka revealed that while he provides for his children’s basic needs, they are expected to contribute towards non-essential items they ask for.
“If they want shoes or pizza that wasn’t planned for, I’ll pay half, but they have to pay the other half,” he said.
If they don’t have enough money, they can repay him by completing agreed household tasks such as washing the car, pairing socks or doing other chores.
According to the rapper, the arrangement teaches them the value of earning money instead of expecting everything to be handed to them.
King Kaka also shared that his family holds weekly meetings where each child takes turns serving as the “chairperson.”

Each child keeps a notebook to record the family’s weekly plans, remind him of scheduled meetings and track responsibilities throughout the week.
At the end of every week, they review their performance before the child receives an allowance and hands over the role to the next sibling.
Teaching taxes at an early age
One of the most surprising revelations was that King Kaka even introduces his children to taxation.
“I even deduct KRA,” he said, explaining that he wants them to understand taxes and other financial deductions from a young age.
He added that exposing them to such concepts early helps them appreciate how money works in the real world.
Beyond parenting, King Kaka said his children also contribute to his creative work.

He revealed that his daughter came up with the original idea for the cover art of his latest album, Year of the Pen, after sketching a hand reaching down from the sky to give him a pen.
Inspired by her drawing, King Kaka painted the final artwork himself, which became the album cover.
His daughter also reviewed and approved the artwork for the album and other promotional materials. He noted that she was paid for her work, just like any other member of a creative team.
Preparing for the future
King Kaka said all of his children have bank accounts and are encouraged to save, budget and plan how they spend their money.
He believes exposing them to financial planning, responsibility and decision-making at an early age will help them become independent adults.
For the rapper, parenting goes beyond providing for his children it’s about equipping them with practical life skills they can carry with them for the rest of their lives.
