The couple tied the knot in a private civil ceremony in Cascais, Portugal, on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, with their children present. Their marriage has also brought renewed attention to the early days of their relationship and the romantic gestures that helped shape their journey.
The Bugatti that caught Georgina’s attention
Before she became known around the world as Ronaldo’s partner, Georgina was working as a sales assistant at a Gucci store in Madrid when the two met.
In the 2022 Netflix documentary I Am Georgina, she recalled how Ronaldo would sometimes wait for her outside work in his expensive cars.
One particular moment stood out. “Many times he’d come after work. He would come, I remember once, in a Bugatti. My coworkers went crazy. They get there on the bus, and I would leave in a Bugatti. I mean, people couldn’t believe it,” Georgina recalled.
Ronaldo also remembered those early meetings, saying he would wait outside the shop before taking her home. “It was funny because I would wait for her outside the store in these flashy cars I have. We would go home, and there we would go into our own world,” Ronaldo said.
From flashy cars to thoughtful gifts
As their relationship grew, Ronaldo continued to mark special occasions with expensive gifts, but some of his gestures have also involved simple family moments.
For Georgina’s 32nd birthday in January 2026, Ronaldo gifted her a Rolex Lady-Datejust reportedly worth about £45,000, which is Ksh7,859,385. The watch featured a red gradient dial, a diamond-set bezel and a gold strap. He also shared a photograph of them during a dinner and called her “the woman of my life”.
Their children also joined the birthday celebrations, making a handmade message for their mother. The gesture showed a different side of the relationship, with family taking centre stage rather than the expensive gift.
A proposal shaped by their children
Ronaldo’s proposal to Georgina was also less planned than many would expect. He revealed that it happened around 1 am when a friend had given him the engagement ring. As he was about to give it to Georgina, two of their children walked in and asked whether he was going to give the ring to their mother.
Ronaldo said the moment made him feel that it was the right time to propose. Georgina later showed off the engagement ring, publicly confirming their engagement in August 2025.
From an unexpected romance to marriage
Looking back at the beginning of their relationship, Ronaldo admitted that he did not expect it to become as serious as it eventually did. “I didn’t expect it honestly. But after a while I felt that she was the woman of my life,” he said.
Years after those early Bugatti pick-ups, surprise gifts and a proposal that involved their children, Ronaldo and Georgina have now made their relationship official.
