I can be a headliner: Millicent Omanga seeks spot in Vurugu 3
Former nominated senator Millicent Omanga has expressed interest in participating in the upcoming Vurugu 3 celebrity boxing event, saying she is ready to step into the ring and even headline the show.
Omanga made the remarks in response to comedian and media personality Steve Thompson Maghana, alias Oga Obinna, who is the brain behind the viral vurugu night fight, after he invited fans to suggest who should headline the next edition.
“Vurugu 2 is done and dusted; now let’s make Vurugu 3 a reality. Who should be the headliner? Obinna wrote.
Responding to the post, Omanga threw her hat into the ring.
“Mimi pia nataka kuingia kwa ring naweza kuwa headliner,” Omanga wrote, signalling her willingness to be part of the highly anticipated competition.

Vurugu 3
Omanga’s request comes after Obinna said that Vurugu 3 is expected to take place in December 2026, although he has not yet announced a date for the proposed contest.
The celebrity boxing event has grown into one of Kenya’s biggest entertainment spectacles, bringing together public figures, influencers and content creators for high-profile bouts.
Earlier, Obinna hinted at a possible rematch between Mbavu Destroyer and Majembe during the upcoming Vurugu 3 boxing event, while also addressing why Mbavu will not be part of Vurugu 2.
Speaking about the fight card selection of Vurugu 2, Obinna, on Thursday, May 21, 2026, clarified that Mbavu’s absence was not due to a lack of value or relevance in the boxing scene, but rather a matter of matchmaking.

“The reason why Mbavu hayuko is this one, I did not say Mbavu does not have value, When we were making the fight card, we were looking on who is Mbavu going to fight with know that is the problem,” Obinna said.
He further noted that Mbavu already has an existing rivalry with Majembe, making them a natural pairing for a future bout rather than the current event lineup.
Obinna revealed that while the original plan involved different matchups, there is a strong possibility that fans could witness the much-anticipated Mbavu vs Majembe clash in December during Vurugu 3.
“Mbavu already has so much beef with Majembe so, ukiwaeke tena wapigana na Majembe was already supposed to fight with Somali boxer, but chances are high we might have Mbavu and Majembe in December not now,” he added.
