Content creator Harriet Njenga has forgiven Mumias East MP Peter Salasya after he apologised and offered her a new contract following their public fallout that led to her resignation from his media team.

Njenga, who served as Salasya’s social media manager and was part of the Salasya TV team, said she accepted the legislator’s apology after taking time to reflect on their journey together.

In a statement shared on her Instagram page on Sunday, July 12, 2026, Njenga admitted she was hurt by the events that unfolded but said she remembered the memories, challenges and successes they had shared while working together.

“I won’t lie, @peter_salasya, I was genuinely hurt. But after taking time to reflect, I remembered the countless memories, the challenges we’ve overcome, the wins we’ve celebrated, and the bigger vision we’ve always worked towards,” she said.

Apology accepted

Njenga thanked Salasya for recognising her contribution and publicly apologising, saying she appreciated his willingness to admit his mistake.

“Apology accepted, Boss. Thank you for seeing my value and for saying what many people rarely say publicly: ‘I’m sorry.’ I appreciate it,” she added.

The fallout between the two came after a live radio interview where Salasya was asked about rumours linking him romantically with Njenga. During the interview, the MP said he did not know her, a response that left Njenga hurt and disappointed.

Njenga later clarified that the issue was not about denying claims of a romantic relationship, but about feeling unrecognised after working closely with Salasya and helping build his digital platforms.

She said the remarks made her feel unappreciated despite the time they had spent working together.

New deal offered

Salasya later broke his silence, saying he was surprised to learn about Njenga’s resignation through social media.

He praised her contribution over the past three years, describing her as an important member of his media team who played a key role in strengthening his online presence.

The MP also apologised over the interview remarks, saying the question about their personal relationship was inappropriate and should not have been raised.

In a bid to keep her on the team, Salasya revealed that he had prepared a new employment contract with a salary increment and improved allowances.

“My Personal Assistant, Elvis, has prepared a revised employment contract reflecting a salary increment together with improved allowances in recognition of your contribution and dedication,” Salasya said.

He invited Njenga to return to the office and discuss the new offer, expressing hope that they would continue working together.

Responding to Salasya’s message, Njenga hinted that they were ready to move past the disagreement and focus on their goals.

“Now, before the internet writes another episode of this story… let’s get back to chasing our goals. We’ve got work to do,” she said.
