Gen Z Baddie has shared the lesson she learnt about leadership after meeting Babu Owino, saying the Embakasi East Member of Parliament showed her that leadership goes beyond making promises and commanding crowds.

Gen Z Baddie said Babu Owino was one of the first politicians she ever met. She explained that she met him around the last quarter of 2025 and that their conversation left her with a lesson about leadership that has stayed with her.

“Leadership is not just about shouting from the top of cars, making promises and commanding crowds. Leadership is also about wisdom, conviction and, most importantly, delivery,” Gen Z Baddie said on Saturday, August 22, 2026.

She said one of the biggest lessons she learnt from Babu was the importance of being clear and loud about one’s vision. Gen Z Baddie explained that this allows others to understand and share the same vision.

“One of the biggest lessons I have learnt from Babu is that you have to be so loud about your vision that other people can see it with you,” Gen Z Baddie said.

Babu’s political vision and youth support

Gen Z Baddie said Babu had already mapped out his political journey by the time he entered elective politics. She explained that his plan included serving two terms as MP in 2017 and 2022, becoming governor in 2027 and eventually becoming president.

She added that Babu has spoken about this vision consistently and unapologetically. Gen Z Baddie also said she had personally seen him create space for young people and use his platform to amplify young voices.

“We have seen him stand with young Kenyans, including during the June 2024 protests, when he openly challenged the police over the treatment of protesters and called for the release of those who had been arrested,” Gen Z Baddie said.

“These are the things I choose to remember when I speak about Babu Owino,” Gen Z Baddie said.

Gen Z Baddie called for an end to divisions between people pursuing different political positions. She said people can still share a common cause despite seeking different positions and urged Kenyans to focus on the challenges facing ordinary citizens.

“There is a bigger picture here. There is a bigger cause. And there is a much bigger enemy to focus on: a system that has made life harder for ordinary Kenyans,” Gen Z Baddie said.
