Claudia Naisabwa: Mungu ananipenda sana, I have never taken a matatu

TV and radio host Claudia Naisabwa has revealed that she has never taken a matatu, saying her mother was always protective and did not allow her to use public transport.
The media personality explained in a podcast on Saturday, August 1, 2026, that even when she wanted to take a matatu while in school, her mother would tell her no.
She explained that she would take fare from her mother but would not use it to board a matatu.
“Namwambia naenda shule group work, nachukua pesa ya fare, I think mungu ananipenda sana, I have never taken a matatu,” Claudia Naisabwa said.
She explained that her experience was linked to how much her mother wanted to protect her. Claudia said her mother was strict about her using matatus, including when she was already at school and wanted to travel using public transport.
“It is not like that; my mom always wanted to protect me, so she was like… Even when I am at school, and I tell her I want to take a matatu, she says no,” Claudia Naisabwa said.
Claudia opens up on media journey
Claudia also spoke about how she started her journey into media while she was still in school. She said she began with online classes before graduating and later decided to look for opportunities outside school.
“Nilianza campus, online classes. I told myself kuna opportunities huku nje,” Claudia Naisabwa said.
She said she met Mulamwah and told him that she wanted to meet Eddie Butita. Claudia explained that while she was still in school, she started shooting content at SPM and kept the activities away from her mother.
“I met Mulamwah and told him I want to meet Butita. While I was shooting at SPM, I was still in school. So my mom doesn’t know naenda SPM, Namdanganya naenda shule group work,” Claudia Naisabwa said.
Claudia said some of her uncles and aunties knew what she was doing but did not tell her mother. She explained that they understood her mother would question whether she was still attending school.
She also thanked Butita for giving the opportunities that helped her meet people and continue building her career. Claudia said she worked on content and pushed herself as a presenter before an opportunity came up at Straight Up.
“I thank Butita for giving me opportunities. I met people, shooting content and pushing myself as a presenter,” Claudia Naisabwa said.
Claudia said she also received support from her lecturers, who would help her shoot videos. She added that she considers herself highly favoured as she continues with her media journey.
