Bishop Maina Wa OTC urges Mt Kenya to support its own, keep showing Gachagua love

Bishop Maina Wa OTC has urged members of the Kikuyu community to continue supporting leaders from within their community, saying they cannot back politicians who do not come from their own community.
Speaking in a video shared on his TikTok page on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, the televangelist said religious leaders pray for all Kenyans regardless of their political affiliations, maintaining that their ultimate desire is to see peace prevail across the country.
“And we, as reverends, we pray for all people. Both wantam and tutam. We pray for them because all we need for our country is peace,” he said.
However, the bishop said that despite praying for everyone, he believed members of his community should support leaders who come from within the community.
“But even as we pray, I want to tell you that there is no way we can back a leader yet; they are not from our community,” Maina wa OTC said.
He went on to use an example involving a gathering of Chinese people to illustrate his argument, saying that people may not understand conversations taking place in a language they do not speak.
“You see, even if you go to a Chinese meeting, you find them talking. You will not understand, yet maybe they are conspiring against you and they end up killing you,” he said.

The bishop then explained that this was the reason he believed the Kikuyu community should continue supporting its own leaders, identifying Gachagua as the politician he wanted the community to rally behind.
“And that is why we always back leaders from our Kikuyu community. And that leader is Rigathi Gachagua,” he said.
Maina wa OTC then called on those attending the gathering to publicly demonstrate their support for Gachagua, asking them to show through their hands that they loved the former Deputy President.
“Please show me with your hands that you love him,” he said.
The bishop also urged the crowd to extend the same support to Senator John Methu, mentioning the Nyandarua Senator alongside Gachagua.
“And also love Senator John Methu,” he added.
Warning to Kindiki
Earlier, the Born Again Evangelism Church preacher made a fresh prophecy concerning Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, urging him to resign from the Kenya Kwanza administration and abandon his position in President William Ruto’s government.
Maina called on Kindiki to leave the position immediately, insisting that the Deputy President’s seat would ultimately bring him shame.
“That Deputy President seat, leave it. Please go and resign now. That seat will lead you astray, and you will face rejection from your own Mt Kenya people,” Maina Wa OTC said.
The preacher further warned Kindiki that the position would expose him to what he described as significant shame, urging him to reconsider his continued stay in the government.
“That seat will also bring a lot of shame on you, so please leave it,” he added.

Maina framed his message as a prophetic warning, saying he was speaking to the Deputy President in his capacity as a seer and prophet.
“And I am sending this to you as a seer and prophet, and I am not those seers who make such statements to look for money or such things. I am not telling you this because I want money. Ask yourself, all those people you have given money to do campaigns for you, what have they helped you with?” Maina Wa OTC asked.
He urged Kindiki to listen to his warning instead of relying solely on the advice of political allies and campaigners.
“Can’t you just listen to me? And I am not asking for any money from you,” he said.
