Anne Waiguru shuts down rumours of separation from husband

Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru has dismissed speculation about trouble in her marriage after sharing a light-hearted post on social media that poked fun at claims she had separated from her husband, lawyer Kamotho Waiganjo.

On Saturday, June 27, 2026, Waiguru took to her Facebook page to respond to the rumours with humour instead of a lengthy statement.

In the post, she wrote: “Ati nimewachwa, siwezi kubali kuwachwa na hii baridi yote ya Gichugu 🤣 @kamothoWaiganjo.”

Translated loosely, the governor joked that she could not accept being left, especially “with all this Gichugu cold,” before tagging her husband in the post.

The message was accompanied by a series of cosy photos of Waiguru and her husband, Kamotho Waiganjo, smiling together and sharing affectionate moments.

The images appeared to reinforce the governor’s light-hearted response, offering a visual rebuttal to the rumours while portraying the couple enjoying each other’s company.

Longtime couple

Waiguru and Kamotho Waiganjo have been married since 2019 after holding a traditional Kikuyu ngurario ceremony.

Over the years, Waiguru has described her marriage as a happy one, noting that despite their demanding careers, they have maintained a strong relationship while keeping much of their family life away from the public eye.

The two have often maintained a relatively private relationship despite Waiguru’s high-profile political career, occasionally sharing glimpses of their family life through social media posts and public appearances.

Kamotho Waiganjo is a Kenyan constitutional lawyer and governance expert. He previously served as a commissioner at the Commission for the Implementation of the Constitution (CIC), where he was involved in overseeing the implementation of Kenya’s 2010 Constitution.

Over the years, he has remained active in legal practice and public affairs and has represented his wife, Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru, in several legal and political matters, including during her Senate impeachment proceedings in 2020.
