Carol Katrue reveals she has resorted to chewing miraa after enduring depression

Gengetone icon Miracle Baby’s ex-lover Carol Katrue has opened up about her ongoing struggles with depression, revealing that she has resorted to chewing miraa as a way of coping.

Speaking during a TikTok live session on Friday, February 27, 2026, Carol, who is also a Mugithi singer, candidly addressed concerns that have been circulating online about her well-being, confirming that she has indeed been battling depression.

“Yes, all those saying I have depression, that is true. Because it’s too much for me to handle alone,” she said during the emotional live session.

She went on to explain that the overwhelming nature of her situation pushed her into using miraa, noting that it has become a coping mechanism as she struggles to deal with everything on her own.

“And that is why I am chewing miraa right now. I can’t just stay like that, so I have to use it,” she added.

Carol, however, dismissed claims by some online users that she was intoxicated, maintaining that despite chewing miraa, she was still fully aware of her state.

“But I am not drunk as some people have said,” she clarified.

In a deeply emotional moment, she expressed the weight of what she has been going through, at one point making alarming remarks about her mental state and the uncertainty she feels about her future.

“And if it ends up killing me, let it kill me. If this is my last TikTok live, it is okay. If I don’t ever come back here and I will be dead, then that is okay. But after that, you will say I was speaking facts,” she said.

She further opened up about her financial struggles, revealing that she had tried her hand at several businesses in a bid to stay afloat, but none had succeeded.

“I tried many businesses, including selling sweatpants, and the business failed to pick,” she shared.

Carol concluded by asking her followers to stay with her during the live session, seeking companionship and support during what appeared to be a particularly difficult moment.

“So just keep me company in this live,” she said.

Breakup with Miracle Baby

The depression narrative comes just days after Carol dismissed claims that her breakup with musician Miracle Baby was staged for clout, stating that the end of their relationship was not a publicity stunt.

Speaking on the matter during an interview with a local radio station on Thursday, February 19, 2026, Carol maintained that neither she nor her former partner would use the breakup to seek attention online.

She said their separation was genuine and not part of any strategy to trend or promote projects.

“We are not, and we cannot, clout chase using the end of our relationship,” she said.

The influencer also revealed that the controversy surrounding the split affected her professional plans.

She disclosed that she had collaborated with Waithaka wa Jane on a project that was initially scheduled for release in February. However, due to online claims that the breakup and the collaboration were connected for clout, they decided to postpone the release to March.

“Even the collaboration I did with Waithaka wa Jane had people saying I was clout-chasing, which is not true. We were supposed to release it in February, but we had to postpone it to March,” she added.
