Prezzo recalls tough period after marriage ended

Veteran rapper and entrepreneur Jackson Ngechu Makini, famously known as CMB Prezzo, has recalled the difficult period he went through after separating from his ex-wife, saying he remained stagnant for about a year as he tried to understand what was happening in his life.
Prezzo said the separation came at a time when he was also raising his first-born daughter. He explained that having a child in the middle of the situation made the period difficult as he tried to process everything he was going through.
“When I separated from my ex-wife, for like one year, I was stagnant. And I had my first-born daughter at the time. So there were so many things I could not comprehend at that time,” Prezzo said during an interview on Monday, September 28, 2026.
The rapper also looked back at how his life changed when he got married. He said he cut off many friendships because he believed people without families or responsibilities could no longer relate to him.
“Wakati nilifanya ndoa nilifuta marafiki kama mia. Ilikua kama wewe huna familia au hauna majukumu then mimi na wewe hakuna kitu tunaongea,” Prezzo said.
Prezzo said his marriage took place in 2008 when he was 28 years old. He explained that things later failed to work out, leaving him to deal with separation while also having a child.
Life after the marriage ended
The rapper said going through the experience was difficult because many of the things he faced were new to him. He explained that he had to deal with the situation as it happened without having experienced something similar before.
“Harusi yangu ilikua 2008. I was 28 years old. So when things didn’t work out na kulikua na mtoto hapo in between it was just crazy,” Prezzo said.
Prezzo said the period left him trying to make sense of what had happened. He explained that the experience was personal and that he was dealing with everything for the first time.
“Everything I was going through was first-hand,” Prezzo said.
The rapper also acknowledged that he was not perfect as he reflected on the period following the end of his marriage. He said he turned to God while trying to understand his role in what had happened.
“I am not a perfect person but nilimwangalia Mungu nikauliza nini nilikosea,” Prezzo said.
