Jesus Compassion Ministries (JCM) founder Benson Gathungu, popularly known as Bishop Kiengei, has provided an update on the construction of a new home for Kaluma Boy and his family.

The popular city preacher who visited the site on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, exuded confidence that the project will be completed.

He indicated that the family will receive their new home in the month of March 2026, marking the completion of a journey fuelled by compassion after the family’s plight made headlines.

“Kaluma Boy Ke we are almost there, next Month I am officially handing over your home and your farm title deed. Today I have visited the site and I am convinced that the Compassionate Gospel has done Justice. We are on the course,” Kiengei stated.

How Well-wishers came through

Construction of the new home began in September 2025 after Kaluma Boy became an internet sensation, with TikTokers making the journey to Othaya to show support for the teenager who cared for his ailing father and shared his daily experiences.

Kiengei was among those who turned up, with well-wishers raising funds to build a new home for the family and cover the cost of treatment for the TikToker’s father.

The teenager also received a full scholarship to study at a local institution, along with several other deals that significantly improved the family’s financial position.

The update by Kiengei comes barely a day after the TikToker addressed claims of squandering the money raised by well-wishers.

Kaluma Boy addresses claims of misusing contributions

Kaluma Boy admitted in a video posted on his TikTok account on Monday, February 23, 2026, that he has been on the receiving end of sharp words with claims of misusing the funds raised.

“Itabidi tu mmejaa ngori kwa sababu what will I do? Mimi nakuwanga tu nimetulia, mmeniattack (You will continuebeing angry because I have nothing else to do),” he said in the video.

I have companies that I am working with, I am making my own money, and I am doing my own thing. For your information, pesa zenye mlichanga zilienda kushughulikia mambo ya nyumba na mzae,” he added.

This loosely translates to: “All the money that you raised went to the construction of the house and my father’s treatment”.

He urged people to move on, telling those who contributed towards the cause to give him a break and focus on other things.

Hata wahenga hawaamini watu walisaidia na hawataki kwenda zao (The wisemen are no doubt surprised that people helped but are stuck on my case),” he added.
