Jesus Compassion Ministries (JCM) founder Benson Gathungu, popularly known as Bishop Kiengei, has wrapped up his forty days of fasting with a prayerful message.

The city preacher stated that today, Friday, February 20, 2026, marks the final day of the fasting and prayers, adding that he is finishing the mission strong.

“40TH DAY OF PRAYER AND FASTING. We have finished strong. Prayed. Reminded him (Satan) that it is written: “Victory is our portion,” the preacher, who is also widely known as Guka wa Nairobi, stated on Facebook on Friday, February 20, 2026.

The preacher has been on a religious undertaking to renew his faith, sharing regular updates on social media with his followers.

Supporting parents

He marked 33 days of fasting with a commitment to help three parents unable to see their children join grade 10.

The popular city preacher said that the initiative is in obedience to God’s command on compassion, on which his gospel ministry is founded.

“In my 33rd day of prayer and fasting…I woke up feeling generous. God has commanded us to be sorrowful and compassionate, and that is my gospel,” Kiengei stated.

“Nani anajua mzazi hajaweza kupeleka mtoto wa Grade 10 shule kwa kukosa pesa ama karo ya shule? Leo, I dedicate my page to help three parents wapeleke watoto wao shule na nitahakikisha wamesoma… Details will help me a lot,” he added.

This loosely translates to: Anyone who knows a parent unable to enrol their child in Grade 10 due to financial challenges, please refer them to me. I dedicate my page today to helping three parents take their children to school, and I will ensure that this is accomplished.

40th birthday & commitment to God

His 40th birthday also coincided with the fasting period, with the preacher renewing his commitment to God as he celebrated the day.

“God…With all I have in me, I dedicate my 40 years in this life to you, under my 40 days in prayer and fasting, in the brokenness and finding the face of hope…Here I meet my 40th birthday…” Kiengei stated.

He prayed for God’s protection and guidance in his service to humanity.

“As I begin a new journey of walking the 4th Grace, continue walking with me, hold me right and tight, light my path, protect me from every evil decision, and restore the joy of my salvation. As you direct my compassionate spirit towards humanity, God… guide my true sense in serving you with all my soul and with all that I have,” he added.
