Adelle Onyango has said ageing is a gift and that she refuses to be shamed for growing older.
The media personality shared her thoughts as she marked International Women’s Day, reflecting on her personal journey and what womanhood means to her. She said growing older is natural and should be embraced rather than criticised.
“The way life is fleeting, you could NEVER shame me for ageing! It’s natural and a gift!” Adelle said in a post on Sunday, March 8, 2026.
She explained that every stage of life carries meaning and growth. According to her, ageing should be seen as a reminder of the experiences and joy people have lived through over time.
Adelle said the small signs of ageing on her face remind her of the happiness she has experienced in life. She pointed to the smile lines near her dimples and eyes as symbols of the joy she has carried over the years.
“I have smile lines near my dimples and eyes, and I LOVE THEM. They are proof that I have HELD and EXUDED JOY!” she said.
She shared the message as part of the reflections she posted while celebrating Women’s Day. Adelle noted that her journey over the years has helped her understand and shape her own version of womanhood. She said the process has allowed her to grow with intention and clarity.
Embracing ageing and redefining womanhood
Adelle explained that she has spent years discovering a version of womanhood that feels right for her. She said the process has been both personal and intentional.
“I’ve been on an INCREDIBLE journey of discovering and creating a version of womanhood that FEELS good to ME,” she said.
According to Adelle, the choices she has made in her life are guided by purpose and reflection. She said her focus is now clear, especially when it comes to the work she does.
“The intentionality in my life is unmatched! My purpose to help AFRICAN women heal & thrive has never been clearer,” she said.
She added that her Women’s Day reflections included lessons and truths that have helped her grow over time. Adelle said these truths have allowed her to move forward without accepting pressure or criticism from others about ageing.
“This is my fave because I have made so much progress on not helping the world shame me,” she said.
