Police raid second-generation alcohol brewing den and seize contraband

Police officers in Soin Sub-County have recovered counterfeit excise stamps, bottle caps, branded packaging boxes, and thousands of fake stickers in a crackdown on illicit brew while targeting homesteads that have served as brewing dens.

In a post on the National Police Service official X account on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, the police revealed that the crackdown was recently conducted in the Mumwet area of Kaplelach.

“A multi-agency operation in Soin Sub-County has dealt a major blow to the illegal production and distribution of second-generation alcoholic drinks. The crackdown, conducted in the Mumwet area of Kaplelach Location, targeted a homestead suspected of being used as a hub for manufacturing contraband alcoholic products,” NPS stated.

Officers further confirmed that during the operation, they were able to recover a large quantity of materials used during the preparation of illicit alcohol.

According to the officers, part of the items recovered included counterfeit excise stamps, bottle caps, branded packaging boxes, suspected ethanol, and thousands of fake stickers.

The police chase

Similarly, the police officers noted that during the operation, they were able to recover a vehicle believed to have been used in the transportation of illicit goods.

However, the operators fled upon detecting the presence of law enforcement officers, which then led to investigations to identify and apprehend those involved.

On the other hand, the police have announced a collaboration with partner agencies in protecting the public from harmful and unregulated alcoholic products, which pose serious health and safety risks.

“The National Police Service, in collaboration with partner agencies, remains committed to protecting the public from harmful and unregulated alcoholic products, which pose serious health and safety risks,” NPS stated.

Also adding, “Such operations underscore ongoing efforts to dismantle networks that profit from endangering communities. Members of the public are encouraged to report suspicious activities.”
