High Court bars Samidoh from contacting woman accusing him of rape
A Nairobi court has barred celebrated Mugithi artiste Samuel Muchoki Ndirangu, alias Samidoh, from contacting a Kenyan and an American woman who has sued him over sexual assault.
The woman, referred to as M.R.W., asserts that the Mugithi artiste raped her when he visited America for his music performances in November 2021.
Justice Lawrence Mugambi on Friday, September 5, 2025, restrained Samidoh, either by himself or through proxies, from reaching out to M.R.W.
Further, he warned the artist against intimidating or harassing the petitioner in any way.
“That, pending the hearing and determination of the instant application, an interim non-contact and non-interference order is hereby issued restraining the interested party (Samuel Muchoki Ndirangu, alias Samidoh), whether by himself, his agents, or assigns, from contacting, intimidating, harassing, or otherwise interfering with the petitioner or her witnesses, save through lawful investigative or judicial processes,” Justice Mugambi ordered.
The High Court order comes after the woman stated in her application that the Mugithi artiste had been manipulating and threatening her between 2021 and 2023.
“In one instance, when I recounted the rape, he insulted me, terming me a ‘35-year-old professional prostitute,’ among other heartrending epithets. I have preserved the said messages and recordings,” M.R.W. states.
Further, Justice Mugambi granted the woman’s request to have her identity sealed, along with the sealing of any filings disclosing her identity, and the redaction of personal identifiers in the public record.
He also directed that the proceedings be conducted in camera to safeguard her dignity and security.
“That, pending the hearing and determination of this notice of motion application, the petitioner shall be referred to by initials M.R.W., and all documents disclosing her full identity shall be sealed, redacted, or otherwise restricted to the parties and the court,” Justice Mugambi ordered.
The court also directed the Inspector General of Police (IG) and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), listed as the first and second respondents, to forthwith preserve, secure, and forensically protect all documentary, digital, and electronic materials relevant to the petitioner’s complaint, including the woman’s audio and messaging evidence.
M.R.W., in her petition, states that Samidoh lured her into a short-stay house in Overland Park, Kansas, and forced himself on her against her wishes despite her persistent resistance.
“On or about November 28, 2021, while Samuel Muchoki Ndirangu, alias Samidoh, was in the United States for a music performance, he lured me into his Airbnb in Overland Park, Kansas, and raped me. I repeatedly refused and resisted, but he mocked my protestations, ignored my pleas, and, without my consent whatsoever, egregiously committed the sexual offence,” part of the court papers read.
The woman also reveals that after the incident, she filed a report with the Overland Park Police Department, Kansas, and a case was opened as Case No. 2023022021 under the classification of rape.
She states that she lodged a complaint on the same issue with the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on June 12, 2025, but says that despite her efforts, the institution has failed to register, investigate, or advance her complaint.
In addition, she says that the DCI, listed as the second respondent in the suit, has equally failed to invoke the mutual legal assistance framework to obtain certified evidence from the United States.
The matter will be mentioned on October 8, 2025, to confirm compliance and for further directions.
