A General Service Unit (GSU) officer, was on Sunday, August 11, 2024, night killed in Manyatta slums in  Kisumu by suspected criminals.

The officer identified as Calvince Omondi, who was 25 years old, was in the company of friends when a k************g gang attacked them.

They were attacked and s*****d several times in their bodies, with the deceased succumbing to chest injuries.

The other person he was with during the night scuffle survived the b****l k***e attacks.

Kisumu County Police Commander Kilonzo Mutoro says they have launched investigations into the matter.

“It’s an unfortunate incident. We have lost a colleague who was on leave in unclear circumstances,” Mutoro said.

He said the officer hails from Kolwa Central in Kisumu East Sub County.

GSU officer’s workstation

The late was attached to Turkwel station in Turkana.

It’s understood that he was with friends when he was attacked and killed as they tried to defend themselves against the a*******s.

A source who sought to remain anonymous said they were in a vehicle and were escorting a friend to her house within Manyatta estate, after attending a party.

It is at this point that unknown p****e attacked them prompting the deceased to rush to the defence of his friends, but he was overpowered and s*****d k*****g him on the spot.

“A confrontation ensued between the GSU guy and the other a*******s who aimed at his friends, but in the process, he was s*****d,” Mutoro added.

The single s**b left a gaping wound on his chest as the officer bled profusely to d***h.

His friend too was seriously injured and is recuperating at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital (JOOTRH).

Mutoro termed the incident as unfortunate and said that they were treating it as pure murder.

Police said, though the unknown a*******s vanished into darkness after the altercation at around midnight on Sunday night, two p****e have since recorded statements.

“We are closing in on investigations. So far, we have moved the body to Jaramogi Oginga Referral Hospital mortuary, pending postmortem examinations,” Mutoro added.

Total orphan

He spoke in the company of Kisumu Central OCS Karani Njagi, and the foster parent of the deceased George Olwal, a former MCA of Kolwa Central.

Olwal said he is the guardian of the deceased who was set to join the GSU elite squad after successfully taking an exam to seek promotion.

“We are asking the Police to pursue relevant leads and to ensure that the suspects are brought to book,” Olwal said.

He disclosed that the deceased GSU officer was a total orphan.

Mutoro called for patience as they pursued vital leads into the heinous murder of the GSU officer in cold b***d.

Olwal also recorded a statement with the police in connection with the murder.
