Family appeals for justice
According to Philip Kirui, the deceased’s brother, Benard was always calm and had been in a relationship with the suspect for more than six years. The couple has one child living with them at home.
“My brother was always calm. They have been staying together as a family and have been blessed with one child,” Kirui told the media at Kapkwen Market.

He appealed to the government to fast-track investigations to ensure justice for his brother. He also called for a review of the licenses permitting bars in the area to operate, noting that some lack proper documentation.
“I want the government to expedite the investigations so my brother can get justice, and also review the licenses permitting bars in this market to sell alcohol,” Kirui said.
The suspect, Sharon Cherotich, has been detained and will be arraigned in court to face murder charges.
The police commandant further appealed to the public to seek alternative ways of resolving family disputes to prevent such incidents, which have been on the rise in Bomet County.
“I urge the public to find peaceful ways of resolving issues instead of fighting and killing each other,” Imbwaga said.
