Kwale County

Earlier this month, police officers in Kwale County arrested one person of interest and seized two sacks of cannabis sativa following an operation along the Mombasa-Nairobi Road.

According to a statement from the National Police Service (NPS) on October 6, 2025,  the arrest occurred when officers from the Coast Regional Headquarters, while on patrol, intercepted a lorry at Mackinnon.

Upon searching, the officers discovered two sacks of cannabis concealed inside the vehicle.

“The driver was arrested and is being held in custody at Mackinnon Road Police Station, awaiting processing and arraignment in court. The lorry has been impounded at the same facility,” read the statement in part.

Further, the NPS reaffirmed its commitment to combating the trafficking and use of illicit drugs across the country.
