Wilbroda: Miscarriage discouraged me from having more children

Veteran actress and radio presenter Jacqueline Nyaminde, widely known as Wilbroda, has for the first time opened up about one of the most painful experiences of her life that changed how she views motherhood.
In a candid conversation with media personality Alex Mwakideu in an interview aired on his YouTube channel on Friday, August 22, 2025, Wilbroda revealed that after giving birth to her son, she later got pregnant again but suffered a miscarriage.
She says the experience discouraged her from trying to have more children.
“After I got my son, I got pregnant again, and I got a miscarriage, and I think that is what discouraged me from getting pregnant again,” Wilbroda revealed.
“That is what discouraged me from getting pregnant again, because that was a very difficult time that I went through, and I really wanted to go through it alone.”
Painful experience
The papa shirandula star further explained that only a few close family members and friends knew about the loss because she preferred to go through the pain quietly.
Wilbroda added that the miscarriage hit her hard because she had already formed a bond with her unborn child, even giving her a name and often talking to her.
“A few people in my family knew, and very few friends knew about that moment because one of my very good friends was my boss at that time,” she disclosed.
“For me, it was because I had already made a connection with that child, I was very excited, I had a feeling it was going to be a girl, I had already given her a name, and I used to talk to her. For me, when the miscarriage came, it really hit me hard.”
The grief, she added, became one of her lowest moments in life.
“It was one of my lowest moments,” she added.
Today, Wilbroda says she is at peace raising her son as a single mother and does not feel pressured to have another child.
“Ata sahi mtu aniambie, ‘Jacky si ata upate mtoto mwengine,’mimi huwaambia, mimi it is not my wish ikiwa ni mapenzi ya Mungu na ni Mungu ndio anataka basi itakuwa ni yeye lakini mimi mwenyewe kama binadamu ukiniuliza mimi nko tu fiti,”Wilbroda said.
