Kenyan socialite Vera Sidika has revealed her renewed commitment to strengthening her relationship with God after a ten-year hiatus from attending church.
Responding to a fan on social media on Monday, January 27, 2025, who had assumed she was Muslim, Vera clarified her Christian faith. She explained that she had been a Christian since childhood, actively attending Sunday school in her early years, but admitted that she had drifted away from church a decade ago.
“Uliskia wapiii? Me that has been in church since Sunday school days. Until 10 years ago when the devil decided to distract me from making it to church. I’m 1000% Christian. Just that I haven’t been going to church in a while, but recently been strengthening my relationship with God,” Vera wrote.
The statement comes a year after the socialite shared her intention to reconnect with her faith and strengthen her relationship with God.
Vera on going to church
In January 2024, through her Instagram stories, the mother of two opened up about her desire to reconnect with the church after many years.
She shared that while she is a believer and consistently upholds her Christian values, attending church has always been challenging due to the overwhelming attention she receives as a public figure.
Vera asked her followers for help in identifying a suitable church, preferably in the upscale Karen area, where she could worship without distractions.
“Haven’t been to church in ages. Damn. I’m a believer, I pray & do my part as a Christian but damn hard going to church. Too much attention. Y’all know any good churches where I won’t be destructed. Please suggest some. Ideally in Karen. This 2024 I’m building a better relationship with God,” she stated.
Christianity and Islam
In 2024, socialite Huddah Monroe opened up about her approach to religion, revealing that she embraces both Islam and Christianity. She explained that, in her perspective, there is not much difference between the two faiths, as they share a common foundation.
During a Q&A session on her Instagram stories, Huddah expressed her belief in the unity of God.
“There’s only one God! Religion brings division. Please, everyone, try to educate yourselves. The same stories in the Quran are in the Bible; they only differ on a few things,” Huddah noted.
Huddah urged her followers to rise above religious ignorance by taking the time to read and understand both the Quran and the Bible.
“Wake up from that religious ignorance my brothers and sisters. The Quran is translated now. Go and get a copy, The Bible is in English, and as a Muslim go and get a copy. Understand them both and you will never question the other’s Religious practices.”
