At the time, he said he had little understanding of politics and Kenyan affairs. He added that it was a young Luo woman who worked as his boss who first spoke highly of Raila, sparking curiosity within him.
“Around 2009 was my first time hearing of the name RAILA AMOLO ODINGA… HOW: I was working at a stationery store in Mwanza, and my boss was just a young Luo lady who spoke highly of him, and at the time I was not even aware of politics, especially in Kenya. Fast forward years later, I was in Kenya when I heard of the same name (A MAN WHO IS NOT A PRESIDENT BUT VERY INFLUENTIAL THIS SIDE), and I was like, so this is HIM. ‘Well, I am always inspired by greatness, but the one that has a track record, so I began to ask HOW HE BECAME,” Goodluck wrote.
He described the stories he later discovered as a mix of sadness, disbelief, and inspiration, eventually recognising Raila as a legend of Africa.
The singer shared that news of Raila’s passing in Kerala, India, on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, hit him deeply.

He lamented that Raila never saw one of his greatest ambitions realised in his lifetime, but celebrated the enduring impact of the leader, noting how Raila’s presence could move crowds and shape events even beyond his presidency.
“When I heard of his passing, it was SAD news to me because of one big reason: ‘That one HIT after the years of struggles and fight over what he believed didn’t happen”, and I was like GOD, why….!!?? Could you not even allow him once in his lifetime…??!! But as the news of his passing kept spreading, I said NO,” Goodluck added.

The ‘Sijasahu’ crooner also highlighted several lessons from Raila’s life, including the power of perseverance, the value of building strong family and community foundations, and the idea that true influence does not always require holding formal power.
He praised the late statesman for inspiring generations to dream boldly and act courageously, even in the face of repeated setbacks.
“1. You don’t need to SIT on the SEAT to SIT. 2. Greatness comes with a very high price. Do not be ashamed of ur tears and the seasons of Pain (It all counts) 3. Whatever it takes to make the vision u carry succeed, go ahead and do it boldly,” he added.
About Goodluck Gozbert
Goodluck Gozbert is a renowned Tanzanian gospel singer known for his bold and sometimes controversial approach to his faith and music.
He first made headlines in 2021 when he sparked debate by publicly burning a Mercedes-Benz gifted to him by preacher Geor Davie, citing spiritual warnings and a desire to align his actions with his convictions.
Goodluck explained that the vehicle, while a generous gift, had drawn scrutiny and unexpected hostility.
In a dramatic act, he drove the Mercedes to a secluded location, doused it with fuel, and set it ablaze. The singer later explained that he had ignored earlier warnings but was convinced after repeated spiritual signs that the vehicle was a source of negative energy.
“People who hated me started wishing bad on me. They started praying that I have an accident. They were asking how did they give me a vehicle yet other people are struggling?”
