Stevo Simple Boy likens self to Salasya as he touts being a political heavyweight

Just days after Stevo Simple Boy declared his intentions to contest the Kibera Member of County Assembly (MCA) seat in the 2027 elections, the charismatic artiste has already stepped forward to name a few Kenyan politicians whom he believes are the only ones who come close to matching his political influence.
Speaking during an interview with YouTuber Trudy Kitui on Friday, May 16, 2025, Stevo confidently listed Mumias East MP Peter Salasya as one of those politicians alongside ODM leader Raila Odinga, saying that only those two leaders stand anywhere near the level he sees himself occupying.
“When it comes to vying, I will make that call at the right moment. I am a dragon — and that is why only Baba (Raila), Peter Salasya, and I are calling the shots right now. Without the three of us, Kenya simply cannot move forward,” he declared.
The ‘Ndio Maanake’ crooner was speaking in regard to the wave of excitement that erupted following his political announcement, and he proudly stated that he is quite famous, which is why many Kenyan celebrities have been talking about him since he made the declaration.
On that note, he also clapped back at fellow musician and self-proclaimed millionaire KRG the Don, who was among the major celebrities who had hurled shade at him following his announcement.
Stevo lashed out at him, saying that he understands very well that KRG had only spoken about him as a means of attracting viewership, and went on to say that he does not hold any grudges against him over the matter.
“As for KRG, of course, he used my name to push his song into the spotlight, but I will not blame him. You know, he has gone silent for quite some time without releasing anything new. In fact, the day I saw him on social media selling charcoal, I just knew a song was on the way,” he added with a laugh.

However, Stevo was quick to note that he knows politics is no walk in the park and insisted that he will come forward with clarity about his MCA bid when the right time comes.
“I might run in 2027; I have not ruled it out — but only when the moment is right. You know politics can be extremely demanding, and it is far from easy,” he shared.
Rich and radiant
Stevo went on to explain why he appeared so fired-up and energetic during the interview, revealing that it all stems from the fact that he is now financially comfortable.
He explained that having money simply lifts his mood, makes everything smoother, and gives him the confidence to express himself freely, adding that he now has enough to enjoy life and even charm a crowd of women if he chooses to.
In his words, having empty pockets makes it almost impossible to win over a woman, so now that his financial situation has improved, he believes he has every reason to be in high spirits.
“I feel fresh, I feel whole, I feel alive. I am happy because, you see, when you have some coins in your pocket, joy just overflows. When you are broke, even a beautiful girl will not look at you. But nowadays, I have money — I can even date a hundred ladies,” he said cheekily.
In other parts of the interview, Stevo expressed that he had just released his latest single, ‘Thank You,’ as an appreciation to Kenyans who have continuously stood by him since he started out in the music industry and in content creation.
He said that he does not take lightly the concern that Kenyans constantly show him whenever he disappears from the public eye, and insisted that the song, which was released on May 6, 2025, was a dedication to his loyal supporters.
“The other day I released a song to thank my fans. Kenyans are such important people. When I am going through something, they stand up for me. When I slip, they advise me. When I disappear, they ask about me. They genuinely love me, so I decided to write a song just to show my gratitude,” he said warmly.
