Content creator and social media personality Shorn Arwa has spoken out against the invasion of her privacy after discovering a TikTok video of herself circulating online.

In the video, a user filmed herself walking in her neighbourhood and captioned it: “Aaww, look who I met.”

Arwa was quick to clarify the situation, stressing that the video constituted a violation of her personal space.

“No, you did not meet me. You invaded my privacy, you filmed me, and you did not meet me,” she stated on her Instagram stories on Wednesday, August 27, 2025. The incident highlights ongoing concerns over the ethics of filming public figures without their consent, particularly on social media platforms like TikTok, where content spreads rapidly and widely.

While Arwa acknowledged the challenges posed by such invasions, she also took a moment to appreciate her loyal following. She expressed gratitude to her fans, calling them supportive and encouraging.

“I feel like I have one of the most supportive followings, and one day I am going to hold a party and invite all of you,” she said, hinting at her plans to engage with her fans in person.

Balancing privacy and public life

Arwa’s reaction highlights the delicate balance public figures must maintain between being accessible to fans and preserving their personal privacy. While social media provides a platform to connect and grow a following, it also exposes creators to unwanted attention and potential exploitation.

Many influencers and celebrities have faced similar situations, where their daily routines are captured without permission and shared online. Such content can blur the lines between public interest and personal boundaries, often leaving creators to navigate the tricky terrain of online etiquette, safety, and respect.

Arwa’s candid response reflects a growing awareness among social media personalities about the importance of setting boundaries, even while maintaining engagement with their audience. By calling out the invasion, she not only protects her privacy but also sets an example for others on the need to respect personal space in public and online settings.

The planned party for her fans symbolises a reciprocal relationship between a content creator and their audience, showing that while she protects her privacy, she values her community deeply.
