Shorn Arwa questions celebrities who claim they hate fame

Digital content creator and entrepreneur Sharon Arwa, popularly known as Shorn Arwa, has stirred conversation after openly questioning celebrities who complain about fame while constantly posting on social media.
Shorn, known for her unapologetic remarks, took to her official Instagram account on Monday, August 18, 2025, and said that she does not understand celebrities who claim they wish they were not famous, noting that while being in the limelight is tough, not being in it is equally difficult.
Arwa added that, unlike those who see fame as a burden, she embraces it fully.
“When I see celebrities say they wish they weren’t famous, I honestly don’t get it. Yes, being in the limelight is tough but so is NOT being in the limelight,” she said.
“Me? Mimi, make me as famous as I can get! I love it here. When people talk about me, my currency goes up. good or bad talk, publicity is publicity.”

Additionally, Arwa added that, while she does not want to dismiss anyone who says they hate fame, those truly tired of it could simply delete and deactivate their social media accounts, get a regular job, and live a normal life.
“And not to invalidate anyone who says they hate fame, but let’s be real: if you’re truly tired of it, just delete and deactivate your socials, get a regular job, and live a normal life,” she added.
The social media influencer further said that she finds it contradictory for some Kenyan public figures to claim they dislike being in the spotlight yet remain highly active online.
“How do you say you hate being famous, yet you post every other second? she questioned.

Fame has many benefits, such as glamour, influence, and opportunities, but it also has many drawbacks that are frequently disregarded. Because public figures must constantly deal with scrutiny, criticism, and high expectations, living in the spotlight can be emotionally and mentally draining.
Loss of privacy is one of the main obstacles. Fans, the media, and critics all scrutinise every move, statement, and appearance. Celebrities rarely have the luxury of private moments, so this constant attention can make even everyday activities stressful.
Another challenge is the pressure to uphold a public image. Celebrities are frequently expected to project a carefully manicured image of their lives, act perfectly, and look flawless. Even the smallest mistake can have a big impact and occasionally cause backlash.
