Tanzanian gospel artiste Rose Muhando has revealed that she has never been married and has raised her children single-handedly through God’s wisdom and the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

Speaking during an interview on Sunday, September 21, 2025, she explained that many people often wonder how she speaks with authority on matters of marriage despite never having been married herself.

According to her, the answer lies in her devotion to the Scriptures and her belief that her understanding of the Bible, both spiritually and intellectually, has shaped her worldview.

She described herself as a philosopher of the Bible, saying that it has been her lifelong study and that the Holy Spirit has helped her to interpret its lessons for her life.

“The first thing many people do not know is that I have never been married, and they often wonder why I speak so much about married couples even though I am not married. I am a philosopher of the Bible, and I am a scholar of the Bible. Both physically and spiritually, I know the Scriptures, because they are my life, and the Holy Spirit helps me to understand what I study,” Muhando shared.

Single mother

Muhando noted that when she found herself as a single mother, she turned to God for strength and wisdom to raise her children.

She recalled praying for guidance and declaring that since Jesus had taken the place of a father in her home, she would dedicate herself to raising her children with discipline and faith.

She said that she shouldered the full responsibility of parenthood alone, ensuring that her children were provided for and educated, and expressed pride that they have now reached university under her care.

“I am a single mother, and Jesus became the father of my children. I told God, since You have saved me, give me the wisdom to raise my children. I started raising them on my own, and up to today, they are in university, and I am the one who has provided everything for them.”

In her recollection, she also addressed the matter of relationships and love, saying that she does not take lightly any man who claims to love her.

She emphasised that she would question what new value such a person intends to add to her life, given that she has been self-sufficient and responsible for her family.

She added that what she truly seeks is love as described in the Bible, where it is a man’s responsibility to love his partner and a woman’s right to be loved.

“So if someone comes to say that he loves me, I will have questions. I will ask him: what new thing are you bringing into my life, what are you adding? What I need is for you to love me with the love that is in the Bible, because it is your responsibility to love me, and it is my right to be loved.”

She reflected that when a woman is not loved by her partner, she can sometimes go as far as demanding love forcefully, which often leads to misunderstandings with men who label such women as outspoken or difficult.

Muhando said this perception is misguided, insisting that the reality is that every woman has a deep need to be loved, and when that need is not met, frustration follows.

“That is why, when a woman is not loved by a man, she can even go as far as demanding love by force. This is where men get it wrong and say that a woman has too much of a mouth. It is not true. She simply needs to be loved,” she said.
