Veteran Kenyan rapper Jackson Ngechu Makini, widely recognised by his stage name Prezzo, has called on young people across the country to unite and take charge of the nation’s future by registering as voters.

In a video shared on his official Instagram account on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, Prezzo emphasised the importance of civic responsibility, urging the youth to ensure their voices are heard at the ballot.

He described voter registration as the first critical step toward placing the country on the right path and demonstrating true patriotism.

Additionally, My City My Town’s hitmaker asserted that the power of the people is greater than that of the government, urging citizens to use their collective voice by voting for leaders who will serve them genuinely, not those who exploit them.

He added that, having been disappointed before, Kenyans should be more cautious when choosing their leaders.

“The power of the people is greater than the power of the government. Let’s harness our collective voices & vote for leaders who’ll serve us na sio viongozi wa kutu obtain daily. Once bitten, twice shy,” he added.

Presidential bid

This comes after Prezzo declared his interest in vying for the country’s presidency in 2027.

Speaking during an interview with SPM Buzz on Sunday, March 23, 2025, Prezzo disclosed that he has already devised strategic plans aimed at consolidating support for his bid and revealed that he has officially launched a political party named Chama Mabadiliko Busara (CMB).

“Yes, in 2027, God willing, we shall leave everything in His hands, but you know, He also commands us to help ourselves first. So, I took the initiative and formally registered my own political party,”he said.

“The name of the party is Chama Mabadiliko Busara (CMB), and it will be a grassroots movement with a formidable presence both in rural areas and urban centres. Of course, I have my close allies backing me, so this is by no means a solitary endeavour.”

“I am the chairman of the party, and its emblem features two hands bound by handcuffs, with the chain in the process of breaking apart. The symbolism behind this is that although shackles exist, there is an ongoing struggle for liberation,”

“For instance, the Gen Z protests have demonstrated that they have shattered the barriers of tribalism and completely broken free from them, and that is precisely what this party stands for.”
