Nairobi man who caught Burna Boy’s Ksh200K jacket shares big plans for it

A Nairobi youth by the name of P. Monte, who was lucky to catch a jacket that Nigerian Grammy Award-winning singer Burna Boy tossed into the crowd during his MadFun event, has come out to share the exciting ways he intends to use it.
In a video shared on his Instagram page on Monday, March 3, 2025, Monte showed off the limited-edition jacket, which he had already put onto a hanger, recalling how chaos erupted as concertgoers scrambled to grab it when Burna Boy flung it into the crowd.
According to Monte, he is not sure yet whether he will sell it, but he hopes that it will help him win over ladies because, in his words, no Nairobi babe would reject someone who was as lucky as getting exclusive edition clothing from the revered singer.
“Jana tulikuwa MadFun, Burna Boy akarusha jacket, watu wakaanza kupigania,” he recalled, describing how the crowd wrestled for the prized item.
“Kwanza ebu oneni hata tags iko nazo ndani,” he added.
Monte then excitedly explained his next move, stating that the jacket alone was enough of a flex to attract women.
“Saa hii hata sitaki mambo mengi.” Monte said, grinning as he flaunted the jacket. “Naambia msupa aje—si ucome kejani? Niko na jacket ya Burna Boy! Hata hauhitaji Kingfisher,” he boasted.
The jacket, part of a green-dotted outfit the Afrofusion star wore while serenading thousands of attendees at his Nairobi concert on Saturday, March 1, 2025, is an exclusive piece from the high-end designer brand Lu’u Dan.
The ensemble also included a custom belt with a striking snake-shaped buckle—an accessory that had fans widely admiring it that night.
The entire outfit is estimated to be worth over Ksh202,793.
Electrifying vent
The ‘Question’ crooner, who hails himself as the African Giant, lived up to the name as he headlined the fully packed MadFun Experience at Uhuru Gardens in Nairobi.
After kicking off the night with one of his widely known tunes, ‘Location’, and setting the mood for his Nairobi fans, the Nigerian superstar sent the crowd into a frenzy after pulling off a surprise performance with Kenyan band Sauti Sol.

With the fans already soaking in the live performance, the Afrobeat sensation took the entertainment a notch higher, bringing on stage Bien-Aimé Baraza, Mudigi Savara, Polycarp Otieno, and Willis Austin Chimano.
Together, they electrified the massive crowd that had gathered at Uhuru Gardens, performing ‘Time Flies’—a track off Burna Boy’s 2020 album, Twice as Tall.
Wild cheers erupted through the venue as Sauti Sol took centre stage, with some fans singing along word for word, while others instinctively pulled out their phones to document the historic moment, as Sauti Sol wasn’t even on the official line-up for the night’s performances.
