African Giant, Burna Boy, lived up to the name as he headlined the fully packed Mad Fun Experience, at Uhuru Gardens in Nairobi on Saturday, March 1, 2025.

After kicking off the night with one of his widely known tunes, ‘Location‘ and setting the mode for his fans in Nairobi, the Nigerian superstar left his fans in frenzy after pulling a surprise performance with Kenyan band Sauti Sol.

With the fans already enjoying the live performance, the Afrobeat sensation took the entertainment a notch higher, bringing on stage Bien Aime-Baraza, Mudigi Savara, Polycarp Otieno and Willis Austin Chimano.

Together, they electrified the sizeable crowd that had gathered at Uhuru Gardens performing ‘Time Flies‘ off Burna Boy’s 2020 album, Twice as Tall.

Wild cheers greeted the air as Sauti Sol took center stage while others went toe-to-toe singing the tune, which has so far amassed over four million views on YouTube.

Another group of their fans resolved to document the historical feat as Sauti Sol was not listed among the artists who were lined up to perform at Uhuru Gardens.

Sauti Sol hiatus

Burna Boy’s performance with Sauti Sol was nostalgic as the Kenya boy band had announced an indefinite hiatus after their last performance in 2023.

Sauti Sol thrilled their fans in a sold-out concert, the Sol Fest, which went down in Nairobi on November 2 and November 4, 2023, before going their separate ways.

“Sauti Sol has been an incredible journey for us, both as musicians and friends. We are filled with gratitude for the love and support we have received throughout the years. While we take this hiatus to pursue our individual and collective passions, we remain committed to our friendship and our shared businesses. The bond between us is unbreakable, and we are excited for what the future holds,” the statement read in part.

The most prominent, however, has been Bien, who was the lead singer of the group. Talented, Bien has done solo projects which have become hits, and collaborated with other artists.

He recently won a Trace award for Best Artist in Eastern Africa.

Performance in general

Burna Boy’s performance lived up to the expectations according to his fans who attended the concert. From ‘Last Last‘ to other hit songs in his discography, the Grammy Award winner had the entire crowd singing, dancing, and living every lyric.

The majority of his songs resonated with his huge Kenyan fanbase, making it a lively performance. His act was backed up by background vocalists, dancers and DJs, spicing up the entire performance.

To win up his Kenyan concert, Burna Boy performed his viral freestyle ‘Lambo‘ after he spotted a fan holding a banner written ‘buy for me a house, Biko.’
